i have a msi k8n neo2 with two sticks of 256mb. im thinking of going upto 1g, in two 512's, and sell the old 256's. i do mostly mpeg2 encoding and some game playing. is it worth steping up or will i not notice anything? im also running raid 0 so i find load times quite quick anyway.

My experience says, yes, it is worth it. I noticed a big difference in any game with a lot of players like bf1942 and a big game of CS Source. HL2 runs a lot smoother with 1gig. Those annoying little stutters vanish. My board recently stopped wanting to run 1gig so I'm stuck with 512 and it's driving me nuts...

yes, 1gig is becoming common right now for all pc rigs for todays gaming :)

MMORPG Players should look no less than 1 gig... now it is not matter of enjoyability, it is matter of playability on those games :P

I definately vote for a gig, or more depending, 1gb over 512 is a very notable difference for todays typical software.

Chalk up another vote for 1G, games like farcry and hl2 just run smoother and so does the rest of the system.

1gb...

As I always say, unless you like to benchmark for fun, 1x256/2x256 is just worthless ! :)
