View Full Version : Powerstream 520 Without Box?

I just recieved my Powerstream 520w from MonarchPC, but without the standard orange box, it was a bubble wrapped PSU with packing peanuts surrounding it in the normal brown cardboard box. Although it seems to be working to spec, should I be concerned about the lack of proper packing (perhaps refurbished although not labeled as such?)

Thank you

I got the power cable, and the extra molex>sata converter, some zip ties, velcro things(????) and the wierd thing about that adapter.... I dont know quite how to describe it, but there's a little thing that slides into a small groove along the 20pin plug, and adds 4 pins to it... Very odd... I'll get pics tomorrow, for now crude drawings will have to suffice.

yea thats called a 24-20 pin atx adapter.
i would check the pins and see if they have signs of being used or plugged in.

My main question concerns the warranty - If I dont have the box, ocz still has to help me out if this thing takes a dive, correct?

I'm just paranoid after all the tales of these things crapping out and taking a whole rig with them - Don't want to take any chances. Thanks

Not as far as I can tell

I have no idea why you did not get a box. We do not ship them that way. If it works fine, then you have no worries, the OCZ warranty is always good.

That extra 4 pin connector you showed does not get used unless you have a 24 pin connector on your board. Use the blue 4 pin connector for the 4 pin "Intel" connector on the board.

Thanks, It's been working perfectly fine, so I'm glad to hear that I still have OCZ's great warranty backing me up. :)
