1.What bios version do you use? (have you compared it to other version?)

2. What DIMM slot do you use? have you tried to see if there are any diffrences while changing to other one?

3. Are you cooling the mofsets\Votlage regulators? if yes- did it affect the given voltages?

4. Does your temp. sensors report hightemps? if yes, did you check by how much?

5. How much PCI slots do you use? which slots did you put your crads in?

5. Any other findings that you have found?

Thanks, I hope that this thread will help to all IT users.

1. I've tried modded A4 and BT, no dfference.

2. Tried them all, no difference for me.

3. No, I'm not sure that will help though.

4. The system temps was a bit too high, but I didn't really worry about it because I knew it was wrong...core temp seemed to be fine.

5. Just 1, I had a NIC in the last one, then I realized I just just use the onboard LAN!

6. I found this boards hates tight memory timings. That's all really, it's a pretty decent board.

:)

1. used modded BT bios, no probs with it.

2. DIMM 1 might be slightly better than DIMM 2, you'll have to try it out yourself.

3. no additional cooling.

4. only SB Audigy, slot 3.

5. memory voltage should be higher, 2.99V is max, even when choosing 3.2V. ABIT should do something about it. Same problem with the MAX 2 v2.0, 2.99V is max.

Thanks Juplier and Bushboy..I hope thatmore users will reply :)

anyway, here is the IRQ defult sharing:

AGP, PCI-1 share an IRQ.
PCI-2 and IEEE-1394 share an IRQ.
PCI-4 and USB Controller share an IRQ.
PCI-3 use a single IRQ.

so PCI3 (as Juplier using) is the best.

I'm currently testing the modded C6 bios, seems to be exactly like the BT, only scores a bit less in sandra mem bench.

That were my first conclusions too, C6 and BT giving about the same performance, but I liked the BT more, was a bit more stable at higher speeds.

I can't notice stabiility diffrence, i just flashed the 8H- and the perfomance are higher, 70 mbps more in sandra and 100 more 3dmarks :D, although I think that it's less overclockable..I will do some testing.

My rig with IT7-max seems to be unstable above 160 fsb no matter what bios or what mem settings, or no matter how much Vcore I throw at it. I have a Pometeia to cool it with that just showed up, so we'll see if it's a cooling issue. I am using the modded A4 bios, but had the 8H when I first got it.Right now I am aircooling with a Sunflower, so there is lots of room for improvement.

I noticed that too.

On my friends Epox 4bda2+, I can run my Samsung pc2700 CTL at ddr400 cas2-5-2-2 with 2.9volts (2.88 actual)

I cant run ddr400 with 2-5-2-2 with 3.2 (2.98actual) on my IT7, I have to back down to 2-7-3-3 for it to work.. that sucks!

The mem timings is known prob..I hope that abit will fix it in their next boards, especially on the GB board.

Anyway, The performed worse than the C6, so I flashed back the modded C6..new bios from abit should come in the coming days (HT support wil be added).

Already done on the MAX2 V2.0 ;)

IT7 --> no POST at 150 3:4 2-5-2-2 (200 MHz)
V2.0 --> loaded windows (and then froze) at 172 3:4 2-5-2-2(230 MHz) and ran at 2-6-2-2 just fine...

At 3.2Ghz, looks normal with straight air cooling. Or is it with the Vapo?
Isn't your memory holding you back? Is is it the CPU?

I have a MAX2 coming back from RA tomorrow and i have my fingers crossed that they give me a Rev2 board.

The same store ordered a few during the week and recieved Rev2 so maybe I might get lucky :)

But with my luck lately.....I doubt it....:(

Well, good to know :D, I hope that their GB (if it will be out) will not have this prom...
with my XMS3200C2 i can't boot even with 133 mhz FSB, 2-5-2-2 and 3:4
Good to be overclocker :D

I am okay with using relaxed memory timings, but damnit, I want this board to be able to use 2-5-2-2, because I want to do a write up on the differences in cas latencies, and how they affect real world applications like Divx Encoding.. Well fudge, I guess I will have to use my friend's epox 4bda2+ for the article.

I can get my IT7 Version 2.0 running at (non stable) 18 x 175 Mhz, that is aircooled, with my Vapo (which I'm too lazy to use currently) it would make it to at least 180 Mhz, probabaly 185 Mhz.

My 3.06 on the IT7 v1.0 would only go up to 4008 1.75V (bios reading at 1.70 and under load was low 1.6x unfortunately). It was not stable (only wcpuid & sandra). However, my 3500C2 was fine at 3:4 462DDR at 2.7V. I was using the C6 bios. I have v2.0 on order, so hopefully it has better voltage regulation for the 3.06. :D

Well finally flashed to c6 modded.

Ocing wise even with 3.2 vmem i cant get to boot 160fsb @c222 but @150 i could. :( i guess my xms3200 is at max

But i am happy to report that with this bios got rid of this wierd lag problem i had with the bt one (when i opened a folder or ie or mostly anything i ran into a wait it felt like lag  ) but after i flashed it went away thank god :D

Running a smooth 160fsb @c2-3-3 ddr428 on my p4 2.53ghz 40idle 45 full load :D 1.55vcore :D

Very nice. 3.4-3.5 should be possible.
I'm hoping to get a nice 2.66 by tomorrow evening. The guy told me it ran very high, with the stock cooler.
I hope that he's not joking or so otherwise :frag:
I asked him to mail me a screenie with wcpuid and mbm. We'll see if he's talking the truth.

Hey Juliper.:)

Hope the 2.66 is a great chip for ya. I believe that most of the 2.66's had some decent headroom....The CI stuff all seems to be pretty decent for overclocking. Minimal Vcore will get you quite a ways above any of the B0 intel chips...Cant wait to rig up my new prom, should ROCK.

Jupiler
11-25-2002, 04:23 PM
Yeah, I hope that 2.66 is good one.
He said that he managed 3.34Ghz at 1.7V with stock intel cooler, running 3dmark all day. Normally, he's gonna send me some pics tomorrow and if it's OK, I'll be getting the cpu in the evening. At least I hope so. :)
I'd love to see 3.6Ghz with this one. But I'll only believe it when I see it. (and tested it myself of course;)

Well, I got my 3.06 @ 4013  now on my prom, so I won't need the 2.66 anymore.
