ok ive been reading, and i see people say they run memtest #5 in looping to test their ram, why test#5?? i don't get it? why not run every test in memtest to test for stability? whats soo special about test #5?

Memtest #5 gives quick and good indication of how stable it is... here is what I do typically.
Memtest #5 pass -> #7 pass -> #4 pass than boot into windows, windows memtest for hours -> run entire memtest overnight.
After I am done, lower it by 2-5 mhz for daily use :)

how about this, memtest #5 for 20 pass's and then overclock higher? will that work out? or does test #7 and test #4 find errors better then five also?

the way i do it... test 5 1 pass no errors raise frequency. test again till it fails. then run it for 20. lower mhz if needed. then memtest over night and lower mhz if needed then final memtest run 24-48 hours.

I use memtest v3.2 bootable from a cd. I found that my memory will fail in test #8 and #5 if they were unstable. So for a quick test I allways run 1x#8 and 2x#5, before moving to a higher clock.

on test #5, usually on the first pass i would get some errors but on subsequent passes no errors are found...

would you guys consider this as stable? or do you strive for no errors at all and then bump up fsb?

Memtest 5 tests the Memory AND Memory Controller stabiltiy, so that's why it is better... If the RAM's are stable at that speed, but the Memory Controller cant handle it, your Memory will crash...

The test 5 because it's quick and reliable
The test 6 is also great but very long :(

Quick test is not the desired tests.... Test #1 is quick and will detect the RAM's errors.... Test #5 because of the reason I mentionned earlier....
