I've narrow it down, and here's my past history. I've own two Acura Integra 95 and 97 LS, and am very happy with them at the time. Sold both and bought a Audi A4 and am driving it now. But with all the repairs and prices, I'm planning to head back to a Japanese car.

Here's my list of cars:

1. 2002 Acura RSX Type S or Subaru WRX. Both USED. $13K with atleast 35K miles.
2. 2002 Honda Civic Si. $9-10K with 40K miles.
3. Another Acura Integra, this time with a better engine. $6-8K with 50K

I'm currently can afford 2 and 3, but want to aim for number one. I would prefer a RSX for the luxury and more mature look. But the engine and AWD of the WRX is something to determine.

The WRX was introduced, in the North American market, in 1992.

Anyway, strictly as a car, the WRX is the best on that list. Though the RSX is a bit better as a status symbol.

I would get the WRX as well, but I would look into the Chevy Cobalt. They look pretty sweet IMO, especially the SS version. And it looks like they pack quite a punch.

For what it's worth from a newbie - get the Subaru. It handles almost any weather conditions far better than front wheel drive cars. Although I don't have a wrx I do have a legacy. With winter tires this thing absolutely rocks in bad weather and come summer it handles wet conditions as well.

If you want performance and awd capabilities/safety get the WRX. The RSX is no slouch, but it isn't as fast as the WRX either. The WRX is much cheaper to upgrade also. Turbo upgrade, ecu flash, etc. would all be cheaper than getting a good reliable turbo setup on a RSX and would net you high 12s or better depending on the hardware used.

I have an RSX now, selling it though as I needed to get a truck for more room/hauling/pulling trailer etc. It is fun, but in the future if I go back to a car I'm going to be looking at something like the WRX(as I'm looking at moving into a snowy enviroment).

You'll be hardpressed to find an RSX with 35k or less for 13k or less with no damage and a clean title.

I have 39k on mine and am trying to get 16,900 or so.
