URGENT: Access Denied while using the Recovery Console

Hi guys & gals,

First of all I want to wish a happy new year to everyone.

Well my problem is very urgent (as I have an assignment to make 'till monday :(). I had to use the Recovery Console to recover the registry issue I have so I got a WinXPHome original install disk (my OS is WinXPPro SP2). I entered the RC screen and started to type CMDs. Every command I write gets "Access Denied". What's the problem? How can I fix it?

i have the same problem. and in another pc the disk cannot be regcognised. if i try to hook it up as "slave" while loading win XP i get an error in some file. the same dmio.sys or something like that when i try to boot from the drive.

Download Knoppix, it can access any connected HDs regardless of password protection, and it's bootable.
