I took your advice and looked on ocforums.com, did a search for chumbo and nothing came up. do you have a link? what kind of problems? I thought the guys that ordered the pci-e 6800gt's from chumbo.com had good luck with them. :stick:

I read it. That stuff happens. Also the xmas rush is extremely hectic and that could've been anyone. At least they sent one of the cards. They could've just put a hold on the order altogether and not shipped anything until both cards were in stock. I think fed ex is to blame, but they should've packed it better. I am going to stick with my x850 xt pe order. I think the price is really good, and all I see is price gauging on every other site. So even if it takes a while, It will be worth it in the long run. I don't even have a pci-e a64 board now, so I am still waiting on the other chipsets. The via (ati sli) looks interesting.

after seeing this ebay auction, x850xl pe doesn't seem like such a bad deal. some idiot spent $610 on 12 pipe card

Nice. I called chumbo today, and it's going to be Jan 14 now. I've played this game before. We'll see. I figured it was too good to be true, but we'll see on the 14th. I can honestly say I'm in no hurry.

Hey pete, so you have 2 pci-e 6800gt's now?

Nah I just got the one. I just wanted to mention it because I was skeptical, I read the negatives on reseller ratings (mostly from when AGP GT's were hard to come by)... or else I probably would have gotten two. I guess your card isnt available yet but if it does become so, hop on it. Since my purchase I check them out now.

I like these PCI-e GT's. They shouldnt have any power problems. The Ultra just has the one PCI-e connector too.

You missed CDW and PC Connection when they had low price pre order on. Bit higher on price now.

I sent them an email. I am guessing they just removed it because they got swamped with orders and are probably trying to cover everyone that has preordered. x800xl is still on the site. I'll keep you guys posted.

when are these cards expected to become main stream?

Years from now. I think even a R9800 still is considered too high end for mainstream consumers.

Agreed. I think mainstream is still DX8 cards. Maybe a new mainstream card would be something like a 9600xt or fx5200.

x850xt pe is back on chumbo. they said they have over 100 x850xt pe on backorder. That is a lot of cards. if that is just one store, think of Dell and all the other places in the world that sells ati. that's a lot of pressure on ati to pump these out. Hopefully Ati will release AMR soon....

Yilkes! I called them today 1/25/05 and they said they are going to be pushed to the end of february. I cancelled my order. I found a x800xt pci-e for $420. this should last until r520, then it will be another 5 months from that release date. lol/
