more voltage = more performance... but how much voltage is safe? i'm kind of scared of increasing the voltages to my ram because if i add to much i might kill the ram, right? and i dont know how much voltage is safe... right now i have some kingston hyperx 3200A (CH-5 chips) i have read other threads where most of you have 3.3v!

how do you safe way to add more voltage and see how much your ram can take? i would like to increase performance with out compromising the life of my computer too much.

btw i have a 3000 winchester and msi neo2 platinum with a xp-90 cooler

just use your ram divider if your scared to pussh your ram, and i think CH-5 can take up to 3.3vdimm but with a fan over them so they don't overheat, i would say around the 2.8vdimm, and just upp your FSB (HTT) and use the ram divider... and you should be flying.. try this, 9x250HTT, with the 5:4 divider (166mhz divider) that would make your ram run at 200mhz (exactly on spec, and you would have your processor at 2250mhz) which is already pretty speedy

if i upp the voltage even more do you think i can get a higher FSB ?

oh yeah.. one thing that bothered me was on the specs it said my ram does 2-3-2-6 @ 200mhz 2.5-3-3-6 was the best i could do... do you think if i did the divider and 2.8v would let it run at the specs timings?

I think they reason is that your ram are speicfied to 2-3-2-6 on a intel platform. Often there is a difference. When it is on amd you have to raise cas to 2,5. But i actually doesn't make a big difference. It's more important to keep the two in the middle (can remember what they are called), at 2. So the most optimal would be something like 2,5-2-2-5 or 10.

i see... since its specified at 2-3-2-6 to get 2.5-2-2-5 i would need to up the voltage right? and whats the difference between 5 and 10?? i see people having 2-2-2-10 ... i thought lower was better?

I think on AMD machines, it just runs better with the last number higher.

alright so i tried all the voltages and got the highest FSB i could...
at 2.85 i got 241 ... 2.80 i got 240 ... 2.75 i got 239 .. 2.70 i got 230 and so on... so i think i'll run it at 2.50v and my FSB at 230 (235 wasn't stable) ... this is at 1T 166 and my timings on auto which are 2-3-3-7

time to OC my CPU :toast:

hmm cant go anymore even if i increase voltage to cpu :(
