You got to much water.. try 35% water.. 40% alcohol.. 15% anti-freeze.. it's not rocket science :)

Great Thanks!

Is it possible to use just 100% Isopropyl Alcohol??

Yes it is, but isopropyl sucks.Unless this is like 98% your using.
I have used 91% and it left that wintergreen oil all over.

At -15c that mix should do fine, and it shouldn't get thick.

so what is the other 10% suppose to be in this case? He has too much water at 50% and on another thread I saw you recommend 50% water but I'm newb so I know there is a difference between their systems but don't know whats requiring more or less water for each.

The email has served me well  :bounce:  :D

Well I don't think there is too much water. Is it actually gooey? Is it oil in the alcohol?Maybe too much antifreeze.Something is wrong here.

well he is at -15C which is 5F.. this isn't really cold.. so he could get away with 40% water, 25% anti-freeze and 35% alcohol.. lower on the anti-freeze actually like 15-20%

and higher on the alcohol or water.. I'm really really surprised to hear he is getting sludge.. all because he said 50% water.. doesn't mean he didn't put more than 1/2 water in.. i mean unless he was very precise about things.. either way he has to much water.. just needs to put either less water in or add a bit of anti-freeze or alcohol... alcohol is better than anti-freeze.. and alcohol doesn't freeze till like -50F or something.

Btw, aenigma.. what is this.. wintergreen oil? i haven't noticed any type of oil residue when using alcohol.. I use 91%.. and haven't had this oil problem at all..

Yeah the stuff I have has oil, it really sucks.Too much water shouldn't cause the liquid to be gooey.Slushy yes, but not gooey. And with that much alcohol and antifreeze, -15c shouldn't be any problem what so ever.

I assumed he ment gooey as in slushy.. hmm.. um.. gooey? Btw, A.. nice signature.. hahaha

haha yeah but the credit goes to Niko who came up with it :)
Mad props :)

Yeah if it slushy, then something is definately wrong if it is slushing at -15c.I could run 70% water 30% antifreeze at -15c and it wouldn't slush.

Hi, And Thanks too all........

First it is -15F witch is -26C...

Yes it is more slushy then gooey.

It starts to form from the copper out.....

I have not tried the more alcohol mix yet as I am waiting for some better Isopropyl Alcohol 99.8 free from water stuff..........

Thanks

oh -15F.. well that explains it.. You need more anti-freeze and less water or alcohol... anyway.. Yea it's freezing on the coils.. that's the evaporator.. nothing you can do about that except add LOTS of anti-freeze or whatever..

Yeah I thought it was -15c, guess I wasn't paying attention.Ok I think you need to get a better quality antifreeze.Or just run 50/50 water/alcohol.
