80g out of 300g?

Having a thick moment here.. :(


A mate of mine has just called and is having probems with a new hard disk (windows xp sp2 ) The drive will only format to 80gig even though its a 300 gig?

I think he may well have fdisk'd it with his 98se boot disk..?

Any thoughts how he can fix it now? ive suggested that partition magic might sort it and make the whole drive active..

Ive had this problem asked before but my brain hurts today LOL

Partition Magic should be able to fix his problem.

Have a look in the Disk Management section under Computer Management and have a look to see whether you can create another partition out of empty space first.

I think he need to fdisk it first and partition. Maybe he's stuck at the 136 barrier?
