Hay guys does anyone here have any experinces with Giga Byte mobo's?

I cant seem to get Easy Tune to work with winXP Pro.
Keep getting message cant load nt driver.

I dont see the 8PE667 listed as supported by Easy tune, but it looks like Gia Byte dont update the easy tune page to often cause it dont look like many mobos are supported.

Thanks for Any help

I'm not 100% sure about your particular board, but if it's the one without fan on the NB (the nonPro nonUltra version) then it's the one that doesn't support OCing/EasyTune.

Btw it might be asking for GIVEIO.sys or NT***.sys (can't remember the exact name) drivers, which are needed to run such programs (OCing utilities in Windows).

Sorry I didnt put the full name up

IT's a GA-8PE667 Ultra
and I think that's it cant load driver NT**.sys

Download the latest EZTUne 4 from Gigabyte site. It will run :) but it won't work :( - meaning as soon as you change something and hit go, the system will lock up.

I haven't tried that yet, only got the board yesterday :p IIRC, the first 5 options are grayed out on my board too (8PE667 Pro) but I can change some stuff like Disabled <-> enabled.

Btw, I thought this board had 2.8Vdimm ? The manual says so, but in the BIOS it's only up to 2.7 !

Vagp doesnt' work either. I tried changing it in the BIOS, restarted, checked again, still at default ~1.49V

Yea I know about the 2.8vdimm:mad: Tweak Towns review even says it has 2.8vdimm. They must have gotten a SPECIAL BIOS
for the review.

On the dueal BIOS if it's grayed out you can chang dissable/enable BUT when you re boot the changes dont take effect:confused: The manual says if their grayed out their is a problem with one of the BIOS's ????

Niko did your 8PE667 Ultra ship with the f2 bios???

I have the Pro not the Ultra (basically the same but without RAID).

It shipped with the F1 BIOS. I've flashed it to F3.

About ET4, I think we have to wait for an updated BIOS.....it's similar to the 8IGX, F1-F4 ddon't support ET, F5 does.

Btw, if you have the reboot problem when increasing Vcore, do the wire trick to increase the default/normal Vcore :)

I've read about the cold boot issue and vcore on other Giga Byte mobos, but I'm not haveing any problems with that. This is my first Giga Byte board, and so far it has suprised me:) I wish the dual bios worked, and the Easy Tune, but other than that I cant find much to complain about.

I'm at 175/218 and it's prime stable over night, games are fine too.

Nice OC :) What Vcore ?

My board is more stable than BD7-II and P4B533-E at high OC :) I just have one complaint : can't get 4:5 divider (or x2.5) with a NW-A :( My RAM can't take 3:4 at high FSB. :(

1.8vcore I had to do the pin trick.
ON my IT7 this cpu could do 182fsb on 1.75vcore.
For some reason the 8PE667 Ultra needs more vcore???

I dont under stand you cant get 4:5 {x2.5} you mean your only able to do 1:1 ??

I wish the 667 Ultra had the 3:4 divider
To me the 3:4 is better than the 4:5

Not sure, my CPU needs the same Vcore to OC on BD7-II, a friend's IT7 and this PE667 Pro.

I only have 1:1 and 3:4. I run my 1.6A at 175x16 (2.8GHz) at 1.75V stable for everyday use, but my RAM (sig) can't take 175:3x4 = 233 Mhz :( However it can do 175:4x5 = 219 fine :)

Of course 3:4 is better than 4:5, but if you want to push the FSB to the max, sometimes 4:5 can be very helpful. On a side note, 3:4 RAM = 16/24 of the CPU's max bandwidth, 4:5 RAM = 15/24 (not much different is it).

It does ! but only if you fool the board to think that you have a Northwood-A FSB 400. ;) I've figured out how to trick it to think my CPU is a FSB 533 by doing a pin mod: BSEL0 - BSEL1 wrapped together :) Search Intel P4 datasheet for more info on that. I'm not sure how to mod a 533 to a 400, but it must have something to do with those two pins as they are the ones that control the input frequency of the CPU (which means FSB).

WoW thats cool:)

ok by connecting BSEL0 and BSEL1, the high signal in the first one is copied to the 2nd one, which makes the board think that it's a 533Mhz FSB CPU. I think BSEL0 needs to be grounded to turn a 533 into a 400. Probably just need to paint something non-conductive to that pin :)

Have you heard of a way to mod the vdimm on this board??
I cant get past 220mhz on my mem because it's only geting an actual 2.66v.

This would be a good mobo if not for such low voltages
If it had 2.8vdim as advertised it would be OK, 2.7 {2.66} actual is just not enough to push Winbond chips to their limit.

Hay Niko I did like you said and downloaded Easy Tune from the GA site. It works, no crashes, no problems so far:)

Thanks for the advise.

It works ? No crashes ? weird :p It crashes all the time on my system as soon as I hit the Go button :p

How can you read Vdimm on this board ? I can't see it anywhere :/
I don't know how to do the Vdimm mod yet, but will try to figure it out soon after my exams :) Just need to read the spec of the Vdimm regulator (it's the IC chip at the top right corner of the board near the DIMM slots).

I allways measure the vdimm in the dimm slot

YEA it's a Winbond W83301R
I'm not savy enough to figer this one out.
A buddy of mine thought it might be Vset0 or Vset1
But I tried them to ground with a 100k resistor, with no luck.
