[QUOTE]but why do american cars always have to be cheap pvc all over the :banana::banana::banana:pit? Becouse, It seems "Most" Americans like the "European Look" and that is what look the American auto makers are going for. Just look at the new line-up of GM cars. Also they are Changing to names like "The G6" to try to change their image to be more appealing to the younger generation. I just say I still miss the Camaro

pvc as opposed to what? expensive and sometimes heavy metal? or extremely expensive carved wood (labor)? i'd say the vast majority of cars all of the the world have pvc in their :banana::banana::banana:pits somewhere. aluminum isn't cheap when it's put into mass-produced cars where it isn't needed :\

and cheap ;) i understand what some of you were saying now. i think we are in agreement that pvc is fine, but only when it is molded and textured well. pvc when it is not properly fitted (non-flush lines, etc) and textured smooth (like basic plastic) does give it a nasty look. i like how my parents' 2005 mini cooper's :banana::banana::banana:pit looks. the styling is made to look like brushed aluminum and it does a pretty good job.

Just like how Mercedes spends all that money on luxury, instead of trying to make the car less mechanically a steamy, unreliable, inefficiant pile of manure? An exeption of course, for the horribly overpriced AMG's.

old yes, new are crap.... (*since there is something called daimler chyrsler, they just use bad parts*)

bmw looks to ameircan for me (*no wonder, get disgined in calidornia  *)

only audi is left  . audi build right know the best cars. my audi a6 looks like new has already 140k km and still looks new and motorpower is incridble and gearbox works still perfect (*a wonder, my mom drove that car for 100.000km and she is really to bold to use a gearbox right, normaly she destroy's it after about 60k km*).

i'm talking about AUDI, get it. mercedes is good, no doubt, but the quaility isn't that good that it wars 10years ago and audi is right know from that premium german brands the one with best quaility. honda or toyota are not a option for me by the way. mayby a toyota crown, but there no posebility to get one in europe without to import it and especially in german it'S hard to get one (*why import one when you nearly lfe next dooor to audi, mercdes oder bmw*).

edit: pic of a crown, but you can only get them in japan :cussing:. this think is actually on the them level then a8, 7er or a s-class.

lutjens
01-31-2005, 07:59 PM
Yes, it's supercharged from the factory and comes with a 6 speed manual tranny. It's the same supercharger as the Lightning truck, just with a different intake location (to the side vs from the top).:)

It's very easy to crank up the power should I get bored with what I have...just add more boost.;)

Ford Racing got 690hp and 620lb/ft (flywheel) of torque out of it.

http://www.fordracingparts.com/announcements/news10.asp

Simply changing the pulley and getting a tune will net about 500hp at the wheels and a similar amount of torque.

People commonly get 650hp and 600 lb ft of torque at the flywheel with a supercharger swap, some upgraded parts and a tune.

So basically with the above, I can add more than amount of total horsepower the SRT-4 or WRX makes.;)

02-16-2005, 04:59 PM
No offense, but the interior is horrible - cheap plastic, ugly colors and lines. That's just my opinion though. 350hp is nice, but 16mpg city sucks. I'm not a bug fan of Pontiac though, so as long as you're happy...

JSU
02-16-2005, 08:54 PM
the srt-4 and wrx make under 300hp if i recall corrdctly. as for the interior i personaly love it. I mostly drive highway anyways so thats around 24mpg ;) .

redgoo
02-17-2005, 12:31 AM
Yeah, I don't really dig the interior, but I know some of my friends totally would. 24 highway isn't too bad either.

I'd have to sink thousands in custom work for my car to get to 350hp. :/

I own an original 1965 GTO with Tri-Power and close-ratio 4-speed from back when the GTO owned the road.
Well, let`s face it, it still does!!
But the new GTO looks nothing like the old ones, no hood scoop, no hood tach, no wing in the back, no Hurst shifter, no nothing to make it look like a GTO.
The new beatles look like a beatle, the new Mustangs look like a mustang, the new Thunderbirds look like a thunderbird...the new GTO looks like everyother car on the road right now. :( I would never buy one just for the GTO emblem alone.

The 2003/2004 (Ford in-house codename "Terminator") SVT Cobra come stock with a 9PSI Eaton rootes type supercharger, which bumps up the power to 390 HP @ 6000RPM, and torque to 390 pounds-feet @ 3500RPM.

At the cost of weight...The cast-iron block and forged (Manley H-Beam) connecting rods, along with a few other goodies, bring up the weight to 670 pounds for the engine alone. And the total weight to 3600 (coupe) or 3800 (convertable).

It seems to shrug it off quite well. 4.5 seconds to 60, 11 to 100, 12.9 in the 1/4 mile, etc, etc.

Still limited to 155mph (electronic). The '00 Cobra R suffered from extreme high-speed instability issues without the front lip. The '03 not avaliable with one, was then limited for save-their-own-ass reasons.

Stock it's 390/390. Off the wheels, 360/365. Steeda Motorsport offeres a King Cobra package ($1500) that guarentees 450RWHP and 11.99 second ET's. Kenny Bell twin-screw superchagers can bump it up to 550/600 RW, and 19PSI. ProCharger Inc. offers a cyntrifucal-type supercharger claiming upwards of 800BHP (~680RWHP, with standard 15% drivetrain loss). Finnaly CarTech USA has a turbo kit claiming upwards of 950RWHP (~1100BHP).

All with the stock bottom end. I'm planning on a '03 myself. I just plain don't like the '05s.

Rukee

Yes, I`m sure the car is fast. I`ve never been to the track with the car, but I did with the car I traded for the `65 GTO. A `82 Firebird with a fuel injected Chevy Big Block, turbo 400 I built and put together would do 1\4 miles in 11.98 @ 121mph getting rubber in third gear at about 90. Got it on video tape when we went to the track somewhere. As fast as that car was, this GTO with the 5:81 rear gear, close ratio 4-speed and Tri-Power just feels faster. I`ll never take it to the track and run it as that would require me to beat on the car, and that`s never gunna happen. I love my Baby!!
This summer I would like to get some new rims and some honk-in huge back tires for it.

well i looked it up and the 65 was 325hp and was around 3200. so it couldnt run a quarter that fast ;) .
325hp?? you sure you looked at the GTO and not the 2bbl 326 LeMans?
Look again, the `65 Tr-Power car was 360HP, (http://www.gtoalley.com/engcodens.html) and in the `60s, every car manufacturer lyed about horse power. If Chevy had a motor that made 200 HP they`d say 210. ;)
Pontiac was the first ones who saw you win on Sunday at the track and you sell cars on monday! In the late `50s and through the `60s they would also lie about their HP ratings, but in the other dirrection!! They would claim less HP then what the car actually made.
When you went to the Drag Strip back in the `60s and ran for the money, they put you into classes rated by factory HP ratings. By claiming less power then what they had, they tended to blow away the competition.
Remember, the GTO was the first of the small 2dr cars to come with a Big Block motor, you could not buy a GTO with the 326 or a 2BBl availble to nearly everyother Pontiac, you got the 389 4BBl 3-speed and POSI rear end stock, 421(dealer option) 4-speed, close-ratio 4-speed and Tri-Power optional, and in `65 the GTO was the smallest car Pontiac made and stuffed with nearly the largest BB V-8 they had. :toast:
