corrupt file question please help

ok when i start up my upstairs computer, it says file is missing or corrupt windows/system32/config/windows
then it says put in windows xp disk and hit r at first screen to repair...i try that and it says nothing to repair
the other option for me is to install windows xp, and when i hit that, it says no hard drive detected

then in bios it doesnt show a primary slave for a harddrive wr whatever

also when i start up the computer and do nothing it says i hav like 76318 mb

im not too computer literate but if someone could please help me i jus needa get the computer running lol

Oh I have fixed this plenty of times. Let me just find where I wrote down how to fix it. After windows/system32/config/ does it say system or software after that?

umm it says windows/system32/config/windows...jrocket put in a new hard disk drive and we're installing xp...i dunno if ill still need help...but thanks neway
