First off Im doing a fresh instal on a brand spanking WD 74 GB Raptor>
Win XP Pro SP1 says theres no power going to my SATA HD, is this a known problem with XP SP1 and SATA HD's?, Havent had much look on microsoft in relation to support. And yes it is most certainly plugged in, bios recognises it, its just when I go to instal, it stops and says it cant find my HD or there is no power going to it
Any help greatly apreciated

ok
make sure its not plugged into an sata raid controller.

when windows is loading, ( blue screen, grey bar) it will
say sumating like "to install 3rd party drviers press F5"
or another key.

press it and put the driver diskettt in, and install the driver....

Every time I boot up it says verifying DMI Pool Data, I insert the boot disks, then I try to install 3rd party drivers ( I got them from my MOBO manufacturer, as aposed to western digital, Couldnt find any drivers for wd sata 74gb Raptor on the WD website, so I tried the sata drivers from Abit, comes back with errors)

maybe try out SP2?
Try different versions of the Sata drivers...are you overclocked? if you are then your bus may not be locking. Windows can be picky...All I can say is run stock, try different drivers and keep trying
