Avatar Thread

Figured we could use a thread here for those that are interested in having avatars made.

Please note that most of us do not have the software needed to animate a single picture (Such as an old, single-frame avatar). Don't be afraid to ask, but don't get your hopes too high, chances are that we cannot do what you have envisioned.

Here's how it works:
Request an avatar. Give as much detail as possible.
Watch, and wait, for your avatar to be posted.
When your avatar is finished, it will be posted for you.
Please credit the artist who made your avatar in your signature. Something along the lines of
"Avatar by [artist's name]".
If you are unsatisfied with your avatar, let us know. Chances are, we'd be happy to rework it for you!
Do NOT EVER, EVER EVER EVER take someone elses avatar. Do not copy someone's avatar, do not steal their avatar, do not post someone else's avatar in this thread for someone else.
Please, no chatting, that just wastes space and makes us have to edit the thread unnecessarily.
Be patient. Remember, there are limited folks here to work on one for you.

If your interested in learning how to make your own, please post in a seperate thread, not here, so we can keep this thread clean. It will be cleaned up on at least a slightly regular basis.

It's a picture of a Great White shark comming at you. You can see the dorsal fin above the water. Below the water you can see the shark with it's mouth and teeth open as if you're about to get chomped! Above the surface of the water the caption "preceived cost" and below pointing at the shark "actual cost".

Seems to be a bug in the settings right now....180x180 or 16kb....I scaled it down to 180x154, but there's no way I can get it to 16kb....my avatar isn't even close to 16kb.

I have it saved so when they fix the guideline I can adjust then for the highest quality.

Taking the screen took some effort as I had to catch the logo off one of my legally bought dvd's without using overlay. Nonetheless that worked out nicely.

With a plugin for Photoshop caled Alien Skin Xenofex 2,...it has a Crumple efect in it,...real easy,..just crumple the image to one point then to that in reverse,...combine them with a Gif Editing tool like GIF Movie Gear and you's done ;)

...to bad that Gif files are not alowed at this time,...:(

You can sorta fake it with some skill, but for the real deal you would need diffrent pictures.

By the way, if staff removes something, like the picture you posted, odds are it was removed for a reason. That doesnt mean to make it your sig.

I can do all the things you ask but the size would be to big for an Avatar (about 4 MB), so I did it my way - Started whit a Blue Butterfly, then comes the cocoon (the paper crumples, then gets back to BB splendor) and yes it moves.

You don't need money if you do it yourself - you need a lot of time and patience unfortunately I've used to much in 2006 - here I'l give you some hints.

I see you know how to crop a person from the picture above, you just made a wrong turn, here's what you need to do, search a Jeep with a soldier inside (even a colonel) and a picture of Sanders, crop Sanders head and replace the head of the soldier in Jeep whit it and work a little on colors, contrast and brightens to make it look real.

An animation is a little more complicated since you need to edit more parts, for a successful animation you could loose a day, happened to me - depends on how many things interact whit the envoierment. :)

There is a trial for testing the soft and that is free, about the animation, you could do it in different ways, for example when you pot the head move it in different direction and save all moves combine them in a .gif file and there you are, you just have to move it step by step so it can move like a movie, the only problem in animations of avatars is there Size, depends on quality and how complicated is done.

I think anyone can make animations.Get a gif maker and a $50 ulead photo impact and bobs your mums brother.
Or download photoshop cs2 trial for 30 days and play around with photoshop and imageready for a whlie till u get use to high quality work.

I like still work rather than animations but it's real easy to use a program like ulead (Basic but easy) and imageready (adobe pro) to make easy animations. tutorials are available almost everywhere you look...

I'm happy that you like it. Unfortunately, the pictures used aren't large, high resolution ones so it can't really be used as a background without it looking quite bad when it's enlarged. In regards to your edit - no, I don't think I will be removing my insignia. You are welcome to design your own avatar so that you don't have it on there though ;)

The Avatar is indeed for here and I know my post count is a bit on the low side lol but I am always of the opinion to look, learn and read up as to what is going on.

I would dearly love to get a CD2 setup or what ever is next on the horizon but for loads of reasons a 170 naked opty at 2.82 on a DFI Venus board has to do me.

Not quite in the class of some that post here I admit but I still like to read up and see what is happening and dream what my next and possibly ultimate rig could be.

Figured we could use a thread here for those that are interested in having avatars made.

Please note that most of us do not have the software needed to animate a single picture (Such as an old, single-frame avatar). Don't be afraid to ask, but don't get your hopes too high, chances are that we cannot do what you have envisioned.

Here's how it works:
Request an avatar. Give as much detail as possible.
Watch, and wait, for your avatar to be posted.
When your avatar is finished, it will be posted for you.
Please credit the artist who made your avatar in your signature. Something along the lines of
"Avatar by [artist's name]".
If you are unsatisfied with your avatar, let us know. Chances are, we'd be happy to rework it for you!
Do NOT EVER, EVER EVER EVER take someone elses avatar. Do not copy someone's avatar, do not steal their avatar, do not post someone else's avatar in this thread for someone else.
Please, no chatting, that just wastes space and makes us have to edit the thread unnecessarily.
Be patient. Remember, there are limited folks here to work on one for you.

I'm guessing this has never been requested based on the above stipulations... but is there any chance of an avatar being made that any member of the XS F@H team could use to represent? I ask because when the SMP client ruled the roost on my other team, one of the members came up with a "Quad Squad" avatar for folders. And many use it with pride. It would be great to have the equivalent of an XS Folding Team badge that any active folder could use as their avatar. ;) TIA. :) Since my request violates the above... I'll try, but imo too much clutter will make the badge less distinctive. F@H is already too much, but it seems that F@H has no official logo, so I had to include the letters so that people know what it is.

Im a HUGE fan of Tool/Maynard James Keenan or just about anything that deals with "freedom" Nirvana (not the band but the universal term) drug culture (culture guys culture). Psychology has also taken a turn on me since i started taking classes dealing with them at my college. Images with meaning also fascinate me, like if you see two blobs and one is escaping and has the meaning of going out and experiencing things thats what i like to imagine. But yeah Tool, freedom, unwinding from the ordinary!
