Today I installed SP2 for Win Xp via auto update.
So far so good.
But since the Sp2 my System is slower, it needs 2 times the time to start !
And how to get rid of the Windows Firewall and Windows AntiVir.
I have a good Firewall and a good AntiVir (~ better then the Windows Progs)

So, how to get rid of thes problems ?!

The reason it is so slow is that it uses prefetch the first time you run a program since installation of sp2. You can't disable the lame winblows security stuff. The new windows firewall is most likely as secure as leaving your front door open. My advise would be to stay away from XP. 2000 still has life in it.

The problem is, I don't have Win2k, and I don't want to buy it for about 120€
If I do so I can't buy a A64 System.
And that isn't worth for me.

Btw.

In the Setup I can disable the Win Firewall and so on, I click on "disable" and then OK but it's active again,...

Noktar...

DIsable the services in MSCONFIG and SP2 runs just as fast as a non-SP2 install.

However to ensure it's properly turned off you must do the following. (Print me out)

1. Install SP2, reboot
2. Point it's AV monitor to your AV proggie
3. Turn off the firewall in security center
4. Go run, msconfig...now shut off the following

autoupdates
security center
firewall
liveupdate

5. reboot and all should be ok...

Make sure you get the XP SP2 limit fixer, if you use p2p proggz (to download legal files of course)
