WinXP Service Pack 2 has a half decent pop-up blocker.
Unfortunately I can't get rid of the water doink sound that is very annoying.
I deselected play sound in the pop-up blocker tools section but the sound will not go away.

Other than turning off the speakers, has anyone conquered this beast?

Thanks,

Get rid of Internet Exploder and install firefox. That would help :P

try to find the sound file that it plays, rename it "i hate you.wav" or something like that...if you find it.

you have to goto windows sounds ...control panel sounds and audio devices and find the sound and disable it i think. i also think there is a "do not play sound when popup is blocked option"

Just get rid of IE and install firefox.

You'll save yourself lots of problems ... :)

yea firefox is good...the only things i cant stand about it is the download manager (it only lets me save to disk instead of open) and the google bar. in IE you can get a google toolbar and find certain phrases on a page...doesnt work with firefox

I had the same problem and it was driving me bananas. The problem isn't with your Internet Explorer, it's with pest patrol. You have to disable the sound on cookie patrol. The "water bloop" is just cookie patrol logging cookies as they appear through the websites. Hope this helps because now I can browse without going insane.
