So it's like what I do for repairing old video game monitors... throw it through the wash and then just let it dry completely before applying power?

Yep, I use alittle dawn and a soft brush to get in between the pins. :)

wd40 & a soft brush works ok too

in fact soft brush only needed for mobo/zif, wd40 will blast a cpu clean on its own

My P4's i just use a old toothbrush, and what goes with it, Toothpase, No problems, And minty fresh afterwards.

Brake Cleaner worked out great for me.
