ocz has a lot of fans on these forums kobalt. As I understand it everyone is pretty happy with the 520. I've always felt their products were overpriced, but few people here agree with me.

Hmm, guess you'll all be really upset when you see the "BIG" output offerings priced from OCZ, or PCP&C..

thats a 24 pin, server PSU.
those are higher grade, just by nature of the demands made on them.

can't find the thread, but I believe both OCZ, and PCP&C will be offering 700-800 watt supplies

Me likes the OCZ 600w very much. $200, you have to pay for one of the best :D

600w's would come in very handy, when running a NF4 board with SLI :D

Beenthere
11-05-2004, 04:19 AM
Yeah with SLI you'd be better off with one of the new PCPC 700W or higher PSUs. Each PCIe video card can draw in excess of 75W per card. You'll see a number of the new AMD PCIe Mobos with auxiliary Molex connectors in addition to the ATX 24 pin and 4/6 pin add on plugs. You're gonna need some serious current to run the SLI Mobos with top end video cards. Probably won't need LEDs as the chips will be glowing in the dark just from the current flow... Before ya know it water cooling will be mandatory and your electric utility company will be your best friend.

This isn't really a deal. Deals are usually something that are highly discounted or rebated beyond rebated. This is more of a "looky here... it's in stock".

And I thought someone at OCZ said they weren't competing with PC P&C? They were trying to give us overclockers real value for our $$$? $200 for a power supply is much cash in my book. Hey Tedinde... aren't you running a 2x3.6GHz Xeon setup with a $35 300w power supply made by Fortron Source? ;)

(sorry guys... OCZ does seem to make stuff that people are happy with... hope I didn't offend any of you guys) :toast:

other then the 24 pin plug and it being a server psu whats the diff between that and this? http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=17-103-922&depa=1 ??

i curently own the psu above and my new MSI Neo2 939 board refuses to run with it and i need a new psu, so i was thinking about the new 420watt or 520watt pcz powerstream. would i be alright with the 420 or should i splurge and get the 520? i will be ocing so i want the best rails possible and compared to the ocz vrs the ture control i already have will there be any diff in stablity??

thx perc,

600W Powerstream = AUD$345 = US$269

Consider yourselves lucky :)

it's actually a $45 Fortron Aurora Series. Blue and adjustable fan controller on the back. It probably easily weighs close to twice as much as a Antec 550 watt that couldnt keep up with the duallie Xeon.

I have one, it sucks period... The rails droop incredibly low under load, I hate it, possibly the worst PSU I've ever owned.

1. 600 watts
2. 20 or 24 pin
3. external Voltage adjustments on teh back w/o paying ~30$ x 3 (that's what finally got me)
4. PC&P = 199
5. Just got my second from atacom from 191 + shipping$ :fact: :hrhr: :hehe:

Sig...

never had any problems with my current 600w. It's nice to know your PSU is not holding you back when you start to approach the limits.

Plus the OCZ customer support is the best i've EVER delt with. Better than amd, intel or anyone.

Huh? Why would a vmod cost $30 a line?

Saying good things about OCZ is one thing, but bad things about fortron is another story entirely. Fortron is the best PSU manufacturer today. Either you got a unit that slipped by QC (unlikely) or your motherboard can't handle the draw you put on it (Very likely, happens more often then not in fact). Try reading at the PSU itself.

I agree...I love my fortron 530W, and I'll be picking up a blue storm 500w in like 4 days

Newegg upped the price to $212+$7s&h. Looks like this thread may have had an effect. They always raise there prices when demand goes up LOL.

Never fear, SVC still has it for $188+s&h; http://www.heatsinkstore.com/ocz600adj.html

Saw the Seasonic S12 600W for $121.54 at Ewiz (http://www.ewiz.com/detail.php?name=PS-S12-600) posted on FW. Reviews look good. A good alternative to the pricier OCZs perhaps?
