Newegg refurbs Crappy $35 boards on KT266 chipset with DDR memory support. $10+$1 shipping. Limit 2 per customer. Probably would make fantastic folding farm rigs.

I only wanted one. But I bought two because I figure one of them will be DOA.

I can't find anything about benches for these things. Our CODUO server is currently on a kt266 + 1400mhz tbird with 512pc133. I Bought a TbredB 1700+ and this board. I figure I'll wirewrap it to the highest multi I can get, dig up some cheap ddr and upgrade the thing.

I had many newegg referbs and all work great. Im using a Asrock K8S8X with a 3000+ at 2.5 gig and the referb mobo cost me only $29. I think theres a ECS s745 A64 mobo now for $29.

I've probably bought over 50 newegg refurb boards and not problems. Most of the time you get all the accessories!!!

I bought one of the ecs 755 boards, The memory scores are killer on it, higher numbers than NF3, but OCing only to 232 fsb?? I paid $39 for it. great board.

I bought a ASUS PCDL that i just built my 2nd duallie Folding Xeon rig, 2 2.8 xeons @ 3.6ghz each, And i got everything when i bought it and saved $50

I've got about a 75-80% success rate with newegg boards. I think I've had 4 or 5 arrive DOA out of somewhere between 15 and 20.

Oh I don't even %#*&ing believe this ^%&&.

Boards arrived. One has Stickers with arrows pointing to cut traces on it. I am serious. Someone took this board. Noticed SERIOUS physical damage, labeled the damage and Newegg resold it.

WTF man, will they let you atleast send back for replacement...I mean i guess it's almost going to be a lost cause because of shipping costs accrued.

very recently I encountered two minor incidents w/ newegg and both times they went the extra step w/o me even having to say a thing.

Ahh thats just great

Man thats pitifull about the major damage and sending it out. Maybe newegg has the company that gets the rma's and refurbs them just ship directly to you? I've had orders come from several different places when placeing big orders. Keep us posted how it goes with the damaged item, I was going to ask how the rma of refurbs is dealt with through newegg

NewEgg considers customer returns "refurbs" as well...and that is what you got. Nice, eh?

Well I know that. But someone must have noticed the damage and large stickers labeling it as damaged. Really, I mean what the f***?

Yes...and they don't care. They cover it in the fineprint. I think it is bad business to sell junk like that, but others say the disclaimer solves that. I say I should start a business where I may or may not ship an item after you pay me....same concept really.

I'll rob parts off the board I guess. Not worth the cost to RMA it back to them.

They don't actually rebuild rma parts? What crap

rmaing can be crap some times anyways, I got a zippy keyboard and half the buttons stopped working, I didn't rma it because by the time I payed for the shipping I might as well just bought another keyboard and I'm sure it would fall apart too. It does it's job of sitting on top of my comp glowing either way

Is the mobo repairable? Will a defog repair kit work the repair the trace?

I just got the referb ECS 755 and it came in the retail box with everything in it and the static bag was still sealed. It works great and only $29.

yeah couldn't you just reconnect the traces? And another thing, have you tried the board? I remember some pre-release boards had cut traces and they were meant to be that way. just an idea

Lithan

No, these are pretty clearly caused by a slipped screwdriver when mounting the HSF. Haven't tested the board or tried to repair because it cost $11 and I don't need it. I only bought two because I expected one would be bad.

I'll buy anything from Newegg except for their refurb motherboards. Others have had great experiences but all I've ever received were customer returns, about 1/2 DOA.

Newegg has never done anything special for me when I get DOA refurb boards. I pay shipping back to the egg and they send another (sometimes DOA) board.

What does Newegg have to send you *other* than customer returns? Plus, while I've gotten the occasional working board there's never any sign of refurbishment. I'll spend the few $$ more for new, at least those come with a warranty.
