im thinking of making a small pelt chiller as an add-on to my water cooling setup. im not looking for sub zero temps, just amibent stable temps
Heres my list of parts:
Swiftec 462 waterblock
36watt pelt(not exactly sure wattage but its around 36w)
172watt pelt
sparkle 300watt psu
Dtek Black Heater core
1/2" clexflex 60 tubeing
Ehiem 300gph pump

i wanted to make some sort of system that would turn the pelts on when my cpu got to a certian temp, and would turn off at amibent temps.

i dunno if this is a good idea or a waste of time, but i wanna do something cool, and useful.

Hi,
my ambient chiller (http://westech.home.mindspring.com/chiller/mychiller.htm) might give you some ideas.
The VPCs control the temp in the manner you are describing.

Just buy a cold plate and slap that 172w tec on the processor and itll give you much better temps then it would if it was used in a chiller.

Unlike my xmas project when i come home of 4x172watt tecs as a chiller res and 1x220watt on the cpu or maybe the gpu ;)

Who knows...

It's a waste of your time to use a 172W TEC as a chiller. Put it right on the CPU. Ideally, you would want a higher voltage power supply for the TEC, since they're generally a 24V model.

You might get decent results running 17V through the TEC (12V to -5V) but then again, it may not work well because PSU might not like supplying that kind of current. The PSU you have should run it at 12V fine, but it will only give you 86W of chilling power.
