View Full Version : Got me a Damm good new AXP

Ok, it's been a while since I posted here, even been on the net as my broadbandconnection is out since last week Thursday and will be out until monday :(

So now I'm using a good old dialup account as I have some Great news.

Got me an AXP 2400+ chip today, and (i'm guessing) it's a damm great one.

Why?

Wel without any tweaking or stuff I'm (granted not 100% stable, everything but 3Dmark) @2465MHZ!!!!! with STOCK VOLTAGE!!!

Yep that's right. 2465Mhz with stock 1.65V!!!

When I find some time I'll see what this chip can do.
But surely with my new KD7-Raid and this chip 2600mhz 3Dmark (or maybe higher) Should be doable.
I mean most people ar running those XP2400+'s @2.2V to get in the 2.5ghz range. I'm almost there with stock voltage ;)

Sorry if this post seems to much bragging/showing off, but I'm just overcome with joy.

I'll keep you guys posted, and submit some screenshots, benches, etc, when my ADSL connection is back up again.

its gonna be the same stepping as the other 2400+ chips... there arent any other ones. One chip's better than a different one thats all... oh and yea some ppl are more lucky than others :D

Pff ok, i'm killing my modem here but this is one of the max stable speeds.

Still no special tweaking:

http://home.pi.be/~muffels1/AMD/2778.JPG

Now for thoso who doubt it to be stable, a 3Dmark result to prove it.

3Dmark compare (http://service.madonion.com/compare?2k1=4929041)

Now plz don't give me a hassle about the low score, there is absolutly no memory tweaking or something going on, no mobo drivers installed or anything.
Just pulled out the KX7 and popped in the KD7, so W2K is also pretty FUBAR.

KD7 doesn't recognise the 2400+ as it's still the original bios (with the non working 6 divider) I'd have to update it and reinstall W2K, but since it still boots this windows is good for testing, so i don't destroy a new install

Hmm, Week 41 RPKW.

I've only heard of SPEW and RPCW. Thats a hell of a difference OC wise.

Good score on that chip Ent. You have a Prometeia for it? Btw, your 3dMark compare shows that you have AGP disabled. 13k without AGP must be some record ;)

That is an awesome overclock indeed...my hats off to you !!

We need to know what voltage it took to achieve 2778Mhz....I made 2705Mhz on 2.15v with my week 42. You definitely have an exceptional chip there...I haven't done 3D past 2556 Yet....waiting for my KD7 to arrive to further my results :)

Thanks Randi (and the others too offcourse)

That 2778mhz is @2.175Vcore as stated in the post with the stepping pic.

Now i'm going to need to find that post here on the forum on getting my R9700 to run @higher FSB on a KD7.

She ran fine on my KX7 @ 205fsb, but on the KD7 i believe there are some special setting or something, ?? .. need to do some serious searchin on this forum ;)

Yep i'm guessing i'm a verry lucky guy, since that 2.78ghz is 3Dmark-able. not just a "high" wcpuid

Maybe some tweaking programs can get me higher. But I can't complain, chip is still brand new, about 1&1/2 hour running time so who knows.

My main concern is getting some near 200fsb speads again with this KD7

Oh yeah chip is Prommy cooled, for those interested.

Latest bios for KD7 fixes the fsb problem, and ads support for XP2400+ to 2700+ cpu's

+200 fsb without a problem (202 quick test for now)

But your R9700 has to be capable of running those fsb's. Most can't :( and max out @75mhz AGP

BTW Superpi 1M test ran @42seconds running 13,5x202mhz

Pic will follow when ADSL works again, or im nuts enough to up it with my analog modem :p

Now that is a fine oc if I've ever seen one.

How about burning in the chip with some F@H? Make sure you use FAH3.14-beta7.exe and run it using a shortcut with -advmethods and -forceasm flags. That would get you the latest beta gromacs. I bet you would fly.

I had AGP up to 82.5mhz without a problem (165fsb with /4 divider) haven't tried much higher yet.

I did a 205fsb with /5 divider 3Dmark run on my KX7 (giving me 81mhz AGP) without any problems.

So I can't complain about that card ;) heck that's what I bought "that" card for :D

Entuscan:

Have you tried to unlock the FSB on the chip? I know this is a new stepping but is the unlocking trick still working? Your chip can definitely benefit from a wide open, synchronous FSB. I run my XP1700+ at 200FSB synchronous with RAM at PC3200. It hoots along but your processor is more than 1Ghz faster than my chip o/c to 1.7 GHz! BTW, I use Samsung PC2700 RAM that overclocks to CAS 2 400 MHz DDR at 2.9volts. I'm also using an 8K3A with AGP running at 4x80MHz using it's 1/5 divider.

Impressive results, good job!:)

#ball3r
11-04-2002, 01:02 PM
damn baller02 that is a good score. could it be that it shows your using agp4x and it says n/a for me? or the only other differences are your using win98(me winxp) and your using 40.52 drivers(i'm using 30.82. could you pm me and help me out with my setup?

Haut^Karl
11-04-2002, 01:40 PM
Yah, 9900 is a tiny bit low, not much. I'm running XP 1.7 GHz/400 MHz synchronous FSB/PC3200 CAS 2/Ti4200 300/600 /XP w/40.72 drivers = 12,017 3DMarks

#ball3r:

If your not using the 40.xx drivers, you are missing out on the artifical ~800 point boost. nVidia tweaked the anisotropic filtering in the Nature test to give a free boost to the >=GF3 series cards. The 41.03 drivers were pretty buggy and caused quite a few crash to desktops for me.

#ball3r
11-04-2002, 01:44 PM
i tried using the 40.71 drivers but couldn't boot(kept getting blue sceens of death) with my current setup. i'm pretty new to this so i'm not sure what to do. now i'm running on a locked cpu@10.5X175 with ram settings....

#ball3r
11-04-2002, 01:49 PM
actually it was the 40.41 drivers i tried and no worky

Haut^Karl
11-04-2002, 01:52 PM
yah they 40.41s were pretty bad on all nVidia cards. The 40.72s have been wonderful with no bugs. The 41.03s are really wacked out and no performance gain.

The new drivers require uninstalling the old drivers *completely* then installing the new ones. Try Detonator Destroyer at guru3d.com. Can also get drivers there.
