Does your T-Line/Res. need to be the highest point in your loop?

The reason I'm asking, is because at a lan party, someone was asking about my setup, etc, and was wondering why my res. wasn't the highest point in my loop. He went on to try and explain how I'm not getting all of the air out my loop since the res. isn't the highest point...

Is that true, or was he just mis-informed? I see many setups where the res/t-line is not the highest point in the loop...

No it does not have to be at the highest point, makes things a bit easier, but not necessary.
