Anyone got an idea as to what I can do with this laptop screen? :stick:

multi-monitor-laptop would be neat :D

or run it off the second port of my 9700 pro...?

I count 15 wires, theres 15 pins for VGA, so.... oh , and 4 on another connector but im not sure what they are for?

well you would need a name for the screen..
then we may be able to find a specsheet for it and wire it to the 2x13 pins on the vid card.
but this will only give you 16 colors IIRC :(
the extra 4 wires would be backlight power i think.

EDIT:
oh, and VGA is an analog connecyion, no chance it would work with a digital screen unless they made an analog to digital conversion, which would be stupid as video is processed digital and converted to analog..

comes from an AST Advantage Explorer 486SX/33... ;)

other than that, looks just like the one for my toshiba satellite pro that uses a P1 120.

well i think we need a name or number for the screen..
there may be a sticker somewhere.. the laptop makers dont advertise with the serial number of the screens ;)
if you can find a name/numper we might be able to pull something off.
i have the schematics ready for a screen form an old ibm, just need a +20v connection :(

mmm...Wonder...could you just take a PSU...mod the 12v line to kick out 20v..

connect the +5 and -12 for 17v, modify the +5 sense and adjust for 18+

or connect +12 and -12 for 24v.. may be a bit high though.

i dont need 20v of potential (is this correct the word is the same in danish ??)..
i need +20v..
i dont think many psus kick out 20v even if i wanted i to. besides it will be expensive ti find a psu with 12v sense i think.. and i dont wanna spend that much.
i ight just build a little one.
the ones for laptops are 19v potential, are ground the same on them?
so if i connect - to case and + to the screen would that be working?

Most PSU's either have a potentiometer inside to adjust voltages manually or they have a sense wire which you can modify to adjust manually yourself.

I am not sure on how laptop power supplies operate totally as i've never pulled one apart, but if they are 20v potential then I would assume they work the same as a normal PC PSU.

- to case and + to screen would be 12v or whatever is being output to the +. To get higher you have to connect to a -v source like the -12v line on a PSU...

no you dont understand me ;)
i do NEED +20v, as all the other wires should correspond to the same ground as this one :(
and the laptop supply just says 19v. it is an external transformer. so i dont know if it is like -10 +10 wich it might be.
