I modifed the bios.
didn't add anything or mess with any settings that I couldn't understand.
all I did, was either change the default voltages, or disable some of the incredible amount of junk in these gigabyte Bioses.
whats different?
1. CPU Smart Fan is OFF by default.
2. CPU Overclock is set to 201, instead of 200-to enable the AGP/PCI lock by default, instead of doing it manually.
3. VDDQ is set to +.1 by default, this is a personal preference, I have the best stability with alittle extra on this voltage.
4. VDDR is set to 2.7 volts at default, instead of 2.5 volts.
this just to help make ram overclocking a tad easier.
5. This is where the biggest changes are.
Integrated Peripherals.
My biggest complaint about this board for overclocking is a simple one-this boards got 3 kinds or raid, fire wire, sound, gadget after gadget... so much crap that it takes me about 4 reboots before I can get the bios back to a overclocking ready mode.
well...
all things in Integrated peripherials has been disabled.
only things active by default are.
LAN.
IDE DMA Transfer.
both IDE ports.
Other then that, USB, Printer ports, game and midi ports, IDE RAID, SATA RAID, Giga Raid, and whatever else, are all off by default.
anything thats "off by default" can easily be turned on in bios, just like normal.
I modded this BIOS to cut down on all the crap that you have to go through on a failed OC. the Constant entering bios, then rebooting, enter bios again, reboot, and so on... gets old real fast.
this board just will not boot, if you do things like.
disable all the stuff off in integrated peripherials, then go the adjust the Vcore, AGP, DDR, latency and then reboot.
so you got to do it in steps.
it's really annoying.
this bios stops all that and gets you right to the overclocking :D
ok, heres the bad part.
I can't attach the BIOS here.
no room.
the file is 375k
the max I can attach is 205k.
so I need someone to host the modded bios for others to download it.
I flashed my Own K8NS Pro here, with my modded bios, and it's working just fine, and best of all...
clear the CMOS, and the bios is streamlined from the start for overclockers
so it definatly works for me.
but like always, running a modded bios is your risk to take.
no ones responsible if something goes wrong, cause no one made you do it.
luckily, on the K8NS Pro, you got dual Bios, so you should be fine either way :)
the only things you have to do in bios yourself, are the CRTL F1 still for advanced timings, I couldn't figure anyway to unhide that option by default.
Cas Latency is still set to AUTO by default.
Multipliers are still set to AUTO by default.
so this bios is just a streamlined bios.
other then saving alot of time, things are pretty much untouched for the more advanced things.
