Thats very impressive. i hope to get that as well. any secrets to how u got those speeds?

Not really....everything is still in stock, all I did is have a 80mm(34cfm)fan blowing on the side, and have a 60mm fan blowing to the back of the card. But my room temp is around 15C, guess that helped too:toast:

be warned, we'll have Almost the EXACT system setup. So you might just have to go down :)

altho im on air, i have all my basic water stuff. i just need to get off my ass and finish my case windows and painting. :)

well looks like some ööööööö reported me for "cheating"
notice anything next to the 11k score? missing?

edit: it might have been a bug, but im certainly pissed off. i spent almost 5hrs tweaking, to get those scores, and they dont allow me to publish it. i guess im gonna have to boot my kx7-333 and get it again. bastards. im so pissed i could seriously kill someone right now.

I would be interested in the mod as well...
my 4200P gets to 300/700.
I tried to change the heatsink and add some fans but it did not help to get higher freq. I am building a wb for the gpu. i'll see if it helps...:(

Looking at the pix, it's a standard reference design Ti4200, so vmods should be same as for any other Ti4200...

???

Don't know about vmodding or so, but to me it looks like an TI4200 based on the TI4600 design and layout.

You might wanna ask DDTung about the vmods, he might know it.

Yea, that ain't no standard Ti4200 reference design, Marci :)

Looks like a 4200 chip on a 4400/4600 PCB. ;)

Ok guys, I've done some research, and our Albatron is the same PCB as the Ti4600's reference board. So everything is the same as with the Ti4600 in this thread (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3403) . Seems like 1k on the gpu and 5k on the mem are pretty common. I will go ahead and do the mod this weekend, and expecting at least 350/750 on this Ti4600....opps, I meant Ti4200;)

I was snooping around and I came across some pretty high-res pics of this card if they're needed. I'm curious as hell to see how high this card clocks when its vmod'd...if it scales like the Abit...this card will quickly become the champ of the Ti4200 category :)

1k resistor, variable or not?

N8

99% sure he meant VR :)

11-07-2002, 02:22 PM
i'll stick to the standard voltage then...
i don't want to use VR.

N8
11-08-2002, 04:45 AM
Why not? If you want, once someone else does the mod, you can have them measure a certain voltage's resitance for ya...then you can buy a resistor for that value :)

almus!
11-08-2002, 04:58 AM
that is sooooo much better!
i don't mean to exploit other people's experience, but, you see, I have already fried a gainward with the VR.
so, this time, i want to use a resistor for the gpu and nothing else. the mem already reaches 700 and that's more than enough...

N8
11-08-2002, 05:17 AM
Its never more than enough...not when there's headroom! ;)

sorry, you are right. I was violationg the 1st principle of the "good overclocker"...:D

Kato

I know VR is the best way to go, you can adjust the voltage anytime you wanted...

But the thing is that I still couldn't find the right cap. to measure the GPU/MEM voltage, so I can't measure the realtime voltage even If i'm adjusting it.

So now my choice would be just a 1k and 5k resistor, with grabbers connecting to the chip.

Until I can get some help on VR and voltage monitoring:(

I wish I could help w/ the voltage measuring. I just don't know enough about it. Hopefully DDTUNG will see this and comment...his educated guess would be better than anyone's I can think of.

P.S. Have ya tried PM'n him the URL to this thread? I know he's a busy man...perhaps he hasn't seen it.

almus!
11-08-2002, 07:16 AM
aren't the caps the same as the ones of other 4200s? if so, the other thread opened by sysfailure is full of indications.

N8
11-08-2002, 07:27 AM
Yea, but they're in different locations it appears. Got a good guess which to measure, almus! ? :)

Kato

i would start measuring the same of the other 4200s as it has been done by sysfailur

Kato,
I was last playing around w/ my new 1700+ Tbred & a diff BIOS for the 8K3A...just toying. But now I've got my rig all torn apart to get the watercooling inside the case....so I'd say it'll be a week or so till I have the time to finish that and make another run...in due time tho :)

almus!,
Show me where those same caps are on the Albatron. They're not in the same location, so how do you know which they are? ;)

I think Kato has the mod figured out in this thread...but he/we don't know where to measure the voltages from...so its kinda hard to mod it w/o being able to monitor your mod :)

you are right, the caps are in a different position...:(
I guess we'll have to wait for DDTUNG.

Kato

I will use grabbers and resistor to mod first, since without knowing which cap for monitoring, VR is just gonna kill my card.

N8
11-08-2002, 03:13 PM
why is VR gonna kill ur card? With a VR u can turn the resistance up the whole way and poke around while turning it slow to tell if ur measuring at the right place. With a fixed resistor you're going to have to hook it up then measure then unhook to see if u measured from the right spot :) I also used clips to do my mod....it works quite well, and pulls right off ;)

Measuring the voltages again should be the same as the 4600... and the caps to measure are here:

On the back of the card while the comp is running put one of the leads on one of the legs of the cap (and the other lead on a ground), and if you get 0 V then that's the wrong pin, move to the other pin and theres your voltage.

When you find out which pin it is, I recommend you solder some wires (like I have done in the 4200 volt mod in the link further up in the thread). It makes it much easier.

Here's the pic:

Just went to measure my Vmem, while the computer is running...
I got 2.8V, perfect, but suddenly my screen were full of green dots!!! and then the computer reboot itself:eek:

Nothing is wrong with my screen now, but did I do something wrong?

N8
11-08-2002, 09:49 PM
Hmm.....i've measured with the PC runnin and benching without a problem...I'm not sure why it'd do that.

Kato
11-08-2002, 11:58 PM
I did it:D
I've changed my old Ti200 Vcore to 1.9V, but didn't have time to see how far can it go. So now that VR is all ready to clip on the Ti4200, since they both use 1.6V:D
Have to wait for the weather to chill down again, and then pass 15k:D

I'd like to see this mod after it's finished with a guide. I'm thinking that this card should hit 350/800 vmodded and if so, that's what I'm gonna do.
