ok, so newegg has a 6600GT.
obviously they are capable of SLI.
NF4's are just a few weeks away.
seems everything needed to make SLI a reality very soon is almost here... except one thing.

wheres the little bridge thing?
how do they plan on distributing that part?
cause it doesn't look like it's included with the videocard...

Maybe motherboard makers gonna include it with there SLI-capable NF4 mobos?

Are there 6800 GT PCI-E coming out? Why get two 6600 GTs when one 6800 Ultra will perform just as good? I think it would be more worth it to wait for the 6800 GT PCI-E.

I haven't seen anything about PCI E 6800 GT's. only the Ultras, and 6600GT's.

Two PCI-E 6800GT's on a NF4 / Opteron 250 setup nabbed 8.2K stock a few days back, and the Inq reported that theyre beginning to ship.

All I've seen lately though. :(

nvidia is shipping the chipset to its partners, will take some more time before we will see the boards though... :/

I would assume it coems with the motherboard as well or as a seperate buy later on...back when rdram was around and you needed CRIMM modules in empty slots, they came with the motherboard not the ram

which reminds me of something.. how in the hell can macci, opp etc afford to keep getting hardware like this every few months.. its crazy...

thats what ive been thinking about since i saw a thread on fm where people were like "macci will be getting like 12k on this!"...

but seriously tho.. over the course of a year they must be spending at least 10 grand on computer relating parts/accessories..

I like SLi.

Mostly because it prevents use of Ubercascades and ultimately drives down the cost of ultimate score runs.

I mean yeah, two $450 cards are not cheap, but neither is one $480 X800XT and a $700 cascade. ;)

Watching all the overclockers race back in the day was more fun. I remember DJ aiming AC units at his case, $70 waterchillers and other crazy concoctions and the race to 10k back in 2000... lol.

I must be getting old. :(

But I digress. Cascades and other uberdollar cooling setups have knocked off a lot of top-notch OC'ers and the competition is hurt for it. Kinda sounds like whats happening in F1 actually...

but there will still be people crazy enough to stick LN2 cooling on it!

what, you going to get angry if I go play with some LN2 for fun?

Neg.

This argument is akin to Nitrous, if that makes any sense. Some personally discredit results that just arent continually repeatable.

but then cascade ocs are not continually repeatable either...
nobody is running their cascades 24/7 :D

i see a difference between a 24/7 result and a max oc result.

But if you think that, then what's the point in benching 3DMark anyway? A Top Fuel is not anything for long-distans trips, but that's kinda cool anyway.

well tbh i dont think suicide ln2 runs are "cool"

i dont see anything interesting about getting a prescott to 10ghz and make a screenshot as fast as possible before it evaporates just seconds later...

ln2 superpi or 3dmark runs are nice though. it doesnt last long either, but theres enough time to "feel" and "see" the speed in benchmarks :D

sometimes I wonder if people remember what Forum they are visiting.
"XtremeSystems"
complaining about LN2 or such around here is like complaining that a cheerleaders skirt is too short. your just talking to the wrong crowd around here ;)

theres plenty of forums with overclocking in it.
but XS is a place where LN2,Dry Ice casecades and world records are common, cause of the crowd here. hence the name :D

Yes, i agree. You discount nearly every bench with the nitrous theory IMO. Some ppl complete one run in a hundred. Sitting the freezing night with 110 V blowers blowing the icecold air into the case. Very manly, just like LN2!

Does anyone know if nvidia will be implementing a "trade up" program to PCIe? I have a agp 6800u and if I could send it back to nvidia with some money and have them send me back a pcie 6800u thatd be great...

we should have a post your everyday rig scores thread, like kunaak's old one

where u show what u use 24/7 3dmark01, 05, superpi, sandra

Aoc, what is Nvidias incentive to do it? I mean sure it would be nice but they aren't the salvation army, they want to make $$

Maybe the chips could somehow be put back into the channel? Or just to get people on SLI? I mean ATi does it right now, but I dont think they give you so much money. Sure would be a nice option.

But cascades can, thats the difference.

LN2 is different than Top Fuel. Top Fuel runs can be repeated with the same fuel, over and over (with rebuilds). Supercharger / Turbocharger > Nitrous.

LN2 is like strapping a rocket to the back and hanging on. When its out, its out.
