New comp.

i'm going to get a new comp and i was wondering if you guys could help me find a nice comp, since you guys knows a lot about comp here(i do to). thanks :). also, i like this site a lot. :toast: :slobber: :banana:

wouldnt you much rather build your own? or get a nice geek-friend of yours to help you build one?

we dont "find" comps here... we find parts... and make our own rigs. ;)

that's what i'm trying to say. i'm trying to build a new comp and need you guys to help me. also i know how to OC, build cases, and put part in, ect...

well... you need to start out by figuring out how much you can spend... what exactly you want...

stick with s478? jump the lga755 ba... well nevermind that... prescott, northwood?

stick with a 9800p/59x0 level card? get a x800/6800 level card? ya need a starting point. ;)

you should do a search for "building comp" A ton of topics will come up.

A lot of them will be filled with flames like "no this X sucks compared to this X"

The "help me build a comp" threads never turn out well, its better if you figure out what type of system you want to build, i.e. AMD/Intel

Then you decide what chip you want to use:

If Intel NW/Prescott
If AMD CH/NC (if 64) or mobile of XP

Then you decide what mobo you want
RAM is always consistent, retail availble is OCZ 3200 plat rev 2/Crucial Ballistix 3200/GSkill 3200 TCCD/OCZ 3200/3500/3700 EB

then you can decide if you want X800 PRO/XT/XT PE or 6800 NU/GT/U/UE

Much fun for you, its a lot more fun to simply research all this yourself and decide what you want to buy then come to the forums and type "this is what I plan on buying what do you guys think". Asking a vague question like "I want to build a computer, help me build one" is kind of like speaking another language and no one can really help you, unless they do all the work for you, which I doubt anyone honestly wants to do (except me cause I'm nice like that).
