[QUOTE=kimandsally]Hi some time ago there was a great walkthrough on installing xp on the msi neo2, I have spent the last 4 hours trying to find it, there were links from Ocuk to this site but every link just takes me to the first page it no longer takes me to the bit I'm looking for.
I can't remember who wrote it but I think his avatar began with ( R ) it was a very thorough guide which made it virtually impossible to not get it right.

I'm needing it as I have 2 x sata drives which I want to run xp on one and put programs on the other, I had managed to do it but can't remember how, my mate came round and in his wisdom played with my bios then it said something like no operating system, I disconected the drive with my programs on then the remaining drive with xp on it works fine, I have tried various options but it no longer works with the 2 drives.

I know less than nothing about raid so I'm a bit stuck to say the least.

If someone knows where the thread is I would be pleased to death.

Cheers.[/QUOTE

Hi maybe I can explain a bit better, I have 2 hitachi deskstar 160gb sata drives and I want to run them in raid 0, I have followed the instuctions from the MSI manual but it will not load xp, I do not have another drive in my computer so I am setting these up in a raid 0 array, then go to install xp I press f6 when it asks for drivers and it loads them then it carries on untill you have to press enter, at which point it then says no hard disc detected :(

I have used the hitachi drive tool to write zero's to the drives and it still does the same, I have configured the drives for raid 0 and it says drives healthy.

Can anyone see what I'm doing wrong?

Any idea's would be welcome.

i think that do you need a Ide Hd where win can load the sata driver....

kimandsally
02-24-2005, 10:35 AM
Does that mean that I cannot load xp onto my sata array? It just doesn't make sense to me, what would be the benefit of having the discs in a raid array if you have to run windows from a single drive?
I bought the 2 drives so that everything would work faster, I trying to get the most from my computer for benchmarking.
Thanks for your reply though.

Just looking at your spec, how did you get your xp onto your 2 disks? And the speed you have yours is great how do you manage to get your winnie up to 2.9? :toast:

I would be well pleased if I could get close to that. :)

You haven't understood....I think you need a Ide disk where sata driver sould be stored to be loaded on windows boot ....After that the driver are loaded you don't need to access anymore at the ide disk....

Ps: Sorry 4 my English :P

I have found my problem, I was using the floppy that came with the motherboard, I carefully read the pdf manual and it says to take the drivers from the cd and put on a floppy, I did that and windows xp has just finished loading :) So maybe I need to be a little more carefull when reading the manual.

I still think you overclock is fantastic, I can only get mine to boot into xp at 300 fsb max with the ram running on the 133 divider, but to do any benchmarking I can only run it at 295 fsb. I am also running the ( Northbridge ) I can't think what it's called on water, and the cpu, although it's not the best water cooling, Zalman Resorater, I am very happy with it the temps are kept down to 43 c most of the time :)

My cpu is a week 46 I think but the Northbridge chip is one of the older not so good ones.

Thanks for you help .

I've a msi k8n neo2 and sometimes i have cold boot issues.
i start the pc, black screen, after a while a beep and my msi says "system is in overclocking safe" or something similar.
i have to enter the bios, save settings and now i can start the pc, even without overclock.
i don't know what to do, i've tried some bios, nothing. anybody with the same problem?

I have the same problem as well - if you solve it let me know
its really bugging me !!
Goes to 230 ok go to 231 or above - no cold boot

Hey darka,

You got me curious...

1 in 5 was good? Ick. How did the others suck? Low htt capabilities, or what?

I have a new board coming towards the end of next week...

Just to add my 2 cents bout this board.

Really seems to hate my XMS C2 v1.2 (ought be CH-6, HS still on though)
Some days DDR440 2-3-2-6 T1 works, other days DDR333 3-4-4-7 T2 is flakey. (Ram was DDR450 2-3-2-6 in old AXP)

With some Buffalo PC-3700 using the Micron chips (more or less Ballistix) the mobo was awesome for me, managed to pull a 3000+ Winny to 2.55ghz stock voltage, stock cooling (with crap thermal pad).

Planning to get some TCCD to see where the limit is, HTT bus got pissed at 290 (3x LTD) but I'm going to give the NB some Ceramique and see whats up then.

Guys...

Ive had three Neo2's now and I'm loathed to get another even tho the clocks were so good.

The first two worked really well for 3 days and then just wouldnt turn on after that. The fans just started to spin for 1 sec and then stopped. I then read loads of stuff about problems with the Antec 550w and OCZ 520w PSU's.

So I sold the PSU and got a new Neo2 and a PC Power & Cooling 510 Turbo Deluxe. Worked a treat for the same sort of period and then... it wouldnt start. So I turned the PSU off at the wall and waited 1 minute. The I turned the PSU back on only to hear a tint repetitive "clicking" noise coming from the PSU. I then turned it off, had a think.. and the turned the PSU back on again, only to hear a bang and see a spark shoot out of the back of my new £150 PSU.

The PSU was dead.. I assumed (and hoped) that the PSU was at fault so I ordered another PC Power & Cooling jobbie and installed it... as soon as I turned the power on the clicking was back so I immediately turned the PC off and removed the Neo2.. reinstalled my Asus A8V and hey presto the system works perfectly!!

This really annoys me as this Asus board it terrible for overclocking and when Neo2 worked it was awesome!

Anyon know why the Neo2's kept dying on me? Id love to have one that worked but after 3 deaths already Im not keen to shell out another £100 :(

Hey vkbms,

You have experience with this memory working at the tighter timings and lower voltage on another board?

Have you tried to disable the aggressive timings in Cell Menu in bios?

Okay, I haven't posted in this thread for awhile, but I had a little time to play with my system yesterday and tweak it a little further. For more details besides my sig, I've got my Athlon 64 3000+ 90nm running at 9 x 240HTT (4x HT), 1 gig of Kingston HyperX PC3200 (not the ultra-low latency type) running 1:1 at 1T-2.5-4-4-8 at 2.7v. MB BIOS is 1.4 stock. The CPU Vcore is at 1.5 (not sure I need it to be that high, but it runs stably and temperatures seem okay). If I go up to 245HTT, Memtest86+ (v. 1.51) fails between in the last 5% of each pass. My CPU is rock stable and I've had no problems there; I'm quite sure my RAM is the limiting factor (but I don't plan on replacing it just to improve my OC).

What does everyone here deem as a reasonably safe Vdimm? The Kingston is listed in manufacturer specs as 2.65v recommended, and of course MSI's red warning text for voltage starts at 2.75v. My case is cooled quite well, so I'm not super worried about heat, but wouldn't like the thought of toasting my RAM either. Will 2.75v be an issue? I think there's a decent chance that if I bring it up to that, Memtest will pass. I don't need an extreme OC, but at 245-250HTT I should be getting Athlon 64 3500+ performance, which I think is pretty good. Also, hitting 250 at 4x would bring me back to the 1GHz stock HT speed that I'd like.

P.S. Final two questions: At what speed does everyone recommend droping from 5x to 4x HT?

Second, does anybody have any problem with Folding@Home? My system runs rock solid, I can do Prime95 for hours in Torture Test mode and loop after loop in Memtest86, but Folding@Home seems to bomb out with a system error within 30-90 minutes, even though system temps stay low. I'm running WinXP SP2, could there be a data execution prevention error, or is there another problem that people are aware of?

Lot of questions, I know...thanks to anyone who takes the time to answer. :)

Figured I'd update since I was :banana::banana::banana::banana:in bout the CH-6 compatability.

I installed the newest nForce drivers and things are running great.

also using 1.37b BIOS

DDR450 2-3-2-6 T1 is possible, T2 is far more stable thou (I think I need more volts to go higher).

I can also swing 285 HTT x3 stable, I dunno if its an issue with the 3x mutli or what but I crap out after that. Would better thermal compound on the NB help here?

LoneWolf
03-03-2005, 11:24 AM
Welp, 245 HTT is not a go at Vdimm 2.75v 1T 2.5-4-4-8. I could try 2.8v, but I'm thinking I'm about as far as I want to go without different RAM. Ah, well...360MHz isn't a bad overclock, and everything's still stable...

I finally managed to get everything stable. I replaced by cheezy Thermaltake 480W PSU with the OCZ Powerstream 520W and it works great. Voltages are dead on and the Amps are a nice dose to fresh air as well. I did have to adjust the 3.3v up a little, but not much, in order to get it to 3.3v.

As for 2-2-2-5-1T on this board with my Corsair TWINX RAM -- I couldn't make it happen. I ramped the crap out of the voltages and it didn't make a difference. I thought, well, I could just overclock the friggin' thing! :slobber:

After creating this mammoth spreadsheet of different HTT, Vdimm, Vcore, Multiplier, etc., I finally settled on the configuration you see in my sig. I didn't want to run higher voltages on anything... so I squeezed 2-3-3-5-1T at 440MHz (220MHz FSB) @ 2.75v and 2.42GHz from the 3500+ 90nm using stock cooling and voltage (1.4v) along with the 11x multiplier and HTT of 4.

Here are my numbers from my current configuration:
* NV/ATI Speedup = Enabled
* Passed SuperPI 2MB, 3DMark05 and Prime95 Torture for 8 Hours.
* 3DMark05/CPUMark = 5075/6159
* Sisandra 2005 CPU Dhrystone ALU = 11051
* SiSandra 2005 CPU Whetstone FPU/iSSE2 = 3924/5130
* SiSandra Bandwidth INT ALU/FLT FPU= 6548/6465

I want to say that I was able to push the RAM up to 500MHz (250MHz FSB), but it was with timings of 2.5-3-3-6-1T @ 2.85v and a Vcore of 1.50v. I ran Prime95 Torture for about 5 Hours before I had to do some other work... but it ran fine up to that point. Like I said, I just wasn't OK with upping the voltages to these levels and leaving it. This was also done with 10x Multiplier for the 3500+ 90nm. The bandwidth numbers were only marginally (7.5%) better... :stick:

I certainly hope this info helps someone. The system is really rock-solid... but it's finding the sweet spot that was a major time-consumer. I was really concerned about corrupting my disk once I got higher and higher in FSB settings... but it never happened.

why are you concerned with a vcore of 1.5v???

2.85v on the memory maybe too far out of spec..but vcore of 1.5v is fine

you realize the nv/ati speed up is overclocking your gpu and I would suggest turning it off and retrying your memory speeds...may get what you want ...the videocard maybe adding instabiltiy

Im loving this board, although I cant get it above 260 its really awesome,

most stable overclock is 250 x 11 on 2-2-2-5 1T timings, had 260 x 11 for some serious speed but not stable enough for me.

1 annoying thing tho is that my ram can handle about 270 @ 2-2-2-5 1T but the mobo wont let me, not even 270 x 10 which really bugs me grr.

heres some screen shots.

Hi everyone !
I have to say this is the awesome place with a lot of information ! Really great site and lots of people who know their stuff.
Now iam thinking to get new system and last couple of days i just read the threads and gather information. Now i decided ,what i want to buy that will fit my budget and will have great specs.

For CPU i choosed AMD 64 3000+ Winnie,as i understand he's good for OC.
Motherboard of course MSI K8N Neo 2 (939) , i hear a lot about this great Mobo.
Memory: OCz Rev 2 is damn too much in my country right now ,so is the Geil Ultra X.
So i decided to go for G.Skill 1024MB (2x512MB) PC3200 DDR400 LA 2-3-3-6 DualChannel Edition as it have good price over here and as i see its very good RAM for OC too.

Also we don't have here the Ocz powerstream PSUs,but we have Tagan wich is produced by the Ocz.
I'll get Tagan TG420-U02 iXeye 420 Watt its great PSU with all Gold-Plated connectors.
And to cool my Winnie i'll get Zalman Cpu Cooler CNPS7000B-Cu LED wich is very silent and it glows Blue ,important because i get clear-side case.
Right now i have ATI Radeon 9800 pro but in near future it will be replaced.

What u think guys? AM i did the home work right ? :)

Anyone here tried the official v1.5 bios?

Trying it out now... On both of my boards...

One is a 0410 & the other os a 0437 board IIRC...

Seems fine so far, I miss the option of having +18% on the Vcore though... Have to do it through CoreCenter & then switch CoreCenter off again...

Currently running 10x240 @ 1.7v atm... seems a bit high for aircooling but Speedfan is reporting 58c running prime95 stress test.

The older of the 2 boards I have does not like my 512MB XMS3500 at all & the newer board seems to only do around 217MHz on the ram @ 3.4v @ 2-2-2-5... Any higher & it fails... Funny thing is that I've had my 2 x 512MB XMS3500 (BH5) running 240MHz @ 3.4v @ 2-2-2-5 on my old P4/IC7-G rig for just under 48 hours memtest stable...

Will update this once I've let prime95 run for a few more hours....

Seems like not much has changed with this 1.5 bios... Need someone like tictac to mod it for more volts...

Cheers,
Minnyboy
BTW, can I RMA my older board because it won't run ds BH5?? All I get is beeps when I even try 1 stick... All the more reason for me to sell this $ucker & get the DFI/PCI-E X850XT... Only problem is I've got some VX4000 coming next week...

Do any of you used AGP Voltage increase for stock card?

I use 1.7v for the AGP all the time... Don't ask me why... I think it's because I've had it set to 1.65v AGP back when I had the IC7-G/9800Pro/9800XT boards...

Can't really say if it helps my OC or not... I don't usually take my X800 any higher than stock speeds unless I'm benching which isn't too often anymore...

Got 2 nice rigs yet the only games I play are with my son & his CartoonNetworkl Games & sometimes the odd Warcraft III every now & then...

As for the 1.5 bios, I have taken it off as I prefer to use the bios to to get more than +10% VID rather than waiting for CoreCenter bull*hit to load up...

Other than that minor problem I can't really see what has changed much with the bios over the past few releases... These bios haven't changed much... Having the option to add +18% VID is the main reason why I keep coming back to the 1.36b bios... Plus the others haven't made my machine any more stable than before...

Ok, guys went to |Ricky|'s place and got the 3500+ under his casacade.

At the temperature of -100º the cpu went to 3300 (300x11) and got 30 secs on SuperPi 1M, with crap mem speed (3:2).

We used bios 1.36b to get V-Core @ ~1.836.

Hope you like.

Hey Rusty_Noob,

What Vdimm voltage?

I am very similar with LS, 3500+ Winchester, 8kNS Ultra 939, and am also 2.75ghz (1.82Vcore). But I'm hitting 31sec, but at 6-3-3-2 at 3.1V with OCZ Platinum Rev2 2x512mb. No other optimizations for SuperPI.

A friend thought I might just need to let the memory 'break-in' some more...?

Got my board fixed yesterday...

I hope they use 10nf smd resistors on their boards... Certainly looks the same...

C66 & C65 were the ones missing/knocked off... Boots up fine. Just getting to the part where I rebuild my rig again...

Dammit!!! Can't seem to break the 30k barrier in 01... 29,880 is the best I can do... Haven't turned the volts up yet...

neokenzo,
Mosy Neo2's don't OC well with BH5 @ 1:1 without more than 3v... You should know that...

The best I can do with no OCZ Booster & BH5 is only 217MHz (XMS3500) @ 2-3-3-7.. Using 2-2-2-5 @ 2.85v, I can only do 210MHz...MemTest stable...

Cheers,
Minnyboy

It looks to me like you installed surface mount resistors, when the components you knocked off were surface mount capacitors.

Maybe I'm wrong here, but all the schematics I've read Use R for resistors and C for capacitors.

Edit: I just reread..
nF= capacitor.
I see that you just typed resistor by mistake...
Please proceed :D

For all ppl having problem with dividers. There is a workaround for that problem. It is a timing called TRFC, in 200 mem div it is set to 14, in other divs it is set to 12 and lower. If u change it with a64 tweaker to 14 them u can clock ur memory as high as in 1:1. Works for all ppl having k8n neo2 i know. Try it and give me info whether it works or not. Problem was forwarded to MSI by BIGTOE, i hope they will do sth with this bug in next bios release

You're right.
Vdimm can't be read from the bios.
i did a vdimm=vio mod, so that's why i pointed you to the pc health status.
With that mod your 3,3V rail is the Vdimm.

Hey!

I am having big problems with my MSI K8N Neo2 54G Platinum. It was a really great board: I was testing a 3000+ 90nm and it was really going well. I read this thread and I wanted to check vcore. I grabbed a multimeter and I did it. Now here's the problem. I did two measurements: in the first one my vcore, which should be arounbd 1.4, 'cause it was in default, was almos 1.7. In the next day it even reached 1.8v. The multimeter was short on batteries.. but I guess that doesn's affect its credibility.. Does it? Now he're the :banana::banana::banana:y part. While measuring... the system shut off. Until now it didn't work any longer (it was abou 10 hours ago). I pressed the button to turn it on and nothing happened. So I shutdown the switch of the PSU and switch it on again, while looking inside the case. This time the CPU and Northbridge fan moved, and the led of the wireless card turned on. But that happens only for half a second. The fans imediatly shut down. I checked if it was the problem of the case button, but it is not 'cause with a direct connection the same happens: the board won't boot. It doesn't even beep. Completely quiet. Any suggestions?

Basically the problem is that the mptherboard moves the fans about half a second... but then they shut down and nothing else happens.

Sorry for my English and thanks in advance for any help...

Nukke: It sounds like the power supply. Did you test another?

Hey all, I posted a while back with my overclocking problems. It seemed to be caused by my Kingston HyperX PC3500. I stuck in 2x512 of some off brand (at least I think) GamerPro PC3200 and I was able to get up much higher.

My 3000+ is now running at 2520 (2x280), 100% stable in prime, 3dmark03 and 05, and everything else I have thrown at it so far.

Here is a link to a screenshot with CpuZ, SuperPI, CoreCenter, Sandra, and ClockGen.

I am still thinking about getting some other ram, and maybe pushing it a bit further. I was able to get it to around 320 (with a mult of 8), but this was a bit more stable, and I did not want to lower the ram any more.

Any comments? Suggestions for improvement?

Nukke: If I were to guess, it would only be a guess :) I do not think it is possible to tell which it is without testing.

And yes Nukke, if I lower my vcore it is not stable. Maybe this is due to another factor I am not considering *shrug*.

I have another quick question for everyone. In my above post I have my OC details. Is it generally considered better for the 64s to simply get the HT as high as possible, or would it be better for me to lower it a bit, to get the memory ratio better? I have heard many say that pure cpu speed is more important than mem bandwidth, and I am running at 2 2 6 2 anyway right now, but I am unsure.

Hey Aleister
I saw your screenie, looks very strange, the DDR is running at 180hz, I'm running HyperX-3500 (BH5) memory right now, It's running at 250Mhz, Your memory cannot possible set to auto on auto the memory runs 1:1 with the processor. I set mine to 2-2-2-5 200Mhz, then the HTT to 250, then everything clockes up sycronously. If your memory will not go any faster than 180Mhz you should definatly dump it and get something for overclocking!

Thanks for the response. Actually with the HyperX I was only able to get the cpu to 220 or so. The ram I have in now is some cheap GamerPro :) I am not running 1:1 though. I have the ram set to 133. I wish I was able to raise the HT even more so the memory would end up being closer to 200, but it is unstable with anything higher. As far as the auto settings, my timings are on auto, but as mentioned, the speed is dropped to 133.

What I could do is raise the ram back up to 166, then I would have a lower speed, but at least I could get the memory running closer to 200.

I am not sure if I am going to keep this ram, I am technically just borrowing it for now. Strange that I cannot get my HyperX better even dropping everything.

I need to go back again and stress everything individually to make sure it is whats holding me back. I am thinking about buying completely new ram. maybe 2x1024 but I know if I ask 20 people I will get 20 different answers on what would be best for this board ;) Any thoughts?

Maybe I will give the HyperX another go. Any other special settings you have I could try? Maybe I was doing something wrong.

Remember that the mobo normally undervolts by 0.1volt and that VID above 1.5 doesn't work...

VID 1.5 would then give you ~1.4vcore. I simply play a little with the +3.3,5,8.3 and 10% overvolting settings with the VID set to 1.4 to find my desired vcore...

Other than that, you can use clockgen and corecenter to adjust vcore from within Windows.

As long as you run + X.X% you'll get above 1.5. But running without the %s you cant go above 1.5vcore. Thats what I meant. Apart from that I really dont wonna be wise on these vcore settings. Its quite different from the AI7/P4 NW setup I come from...

I dont need above 1.4 so I just go with 1.5 :p:

The max vdimm for the Neo2 has nothing to do with the PS. The max vdimm without a vdimm mod or OCZ Booster is only 2.85v.

It is only when you either fully mod the board or just get an OCZ DDR Booster then you will be able to feed you RAM some serious volts...

me using TMSP UTT on msi k8n neo 2 mobo can't even boot without ocz booster
during initial startup u need to turn the ocz booster vr around 1/2 in order to boot
after boot up than u adjust voltage from the ocz again to find the stable voltage to run ur UTT certain speed (mine 3.375v to run 2-2-2-5 for 260fsb)

I have seen a few people ask this, but never saw too many answers..

Is there a particular brand/model of memory that seems to work best with this board for overclocking? I have tested out some of my HyperX PC3500 and some GamerPro PC3200, and neither just let me push them very far at all.

I am thinking either 2x512 or 1x1024 depending on price. Any thoughts?

I also considered getting one of the boosters everyone has been talking about. They look good.

Hi all, been reading round here for a while with great interest. Heres my first post.

I have recently got an A643200 + MSI Neo2 Plat.

I have some 3200VX to go with this and a DDRBooster.

But no matter how hard I try, I simply cannot get these modules to perform like everyone else on the damn planet!

After a lot of hassle and tinkering about, thanks to this site, I have got it running 257(HTT3) with the divider 166 (which gives 214mhz) 2,2,2,5 with just around 3.1/3.2v. I ran memtest #5 and it comes up with a couple errors per pass, but wont error everytime! I think this has something to do with the vdimm fluctiating, but I'm not entirely sure.

Now, if say, I run a speed that the memory cant cope with, like 220 2,2,2,5 with 3.1v it will return errors, but when I raise the VDIMM to more, it will return even more errors! Thousands at a time. Not sure whats going on there...I've never put anymore than 3.6v through the dimms. Measured with a multimeter on the back of the Booster. I have 2 80mm fans positioned over the memory slots.

I've tried different BIOS versions (136mod, 137mod and 1.5 official)to see if that helps and so far, it hasn't :(

I'm not a noob to overclocking but this is my first attempt at trying it with A64's.

Can someone with VX let me know exactly what timings they have set and at what voltage and bios revision on their Neo2, because I'm completely stumped as to why these chips arent performing (theyre supposedly brand new from an RMA, they looked it when I recieved them). I know they arent rated at those speeds but when theres a lot of talk about it on these forums, I cant help thinking that I somehow have a dodgy pair of modules.

I'm sorry this has been a long post, but I've been at this for a long time and really would like to get these modules performing like they should. Anyone?

Thousands at a time. you played around with the ras to cas delay? i had a strange problem stopping me get my khx3200 run @200.
one stick doesn't like 2 at all and i have to give it 3. i'm testing @250 atm but i have errors 2-3-2-6 & 2-4-2-6 (less errors)
seems my one stick suxx with fast ras to cas delay timings :(

i will post some interesting experiences these days put i have to crack the 250 first - i get errors at any voltage. had it memtest86 stable @250 with 3.6V but that's too much. i buyed them from a guy telling me the pair does 255 @ 3.2V @2-2-2-(8) i guess. but it doesn't at all.

1.36 mod tested - Limit 250 (no mem86 possible without error 5), 1.37 mod gave me little bit more stability (250 stable @3.5V ^^ 2-3-2-6).

testing if i get 250 memtest stable with 3.38V anyhow but it does not look good :(

is it normal that i can run mem86 fine @250 (got 2-4-2-5 ras to cas delay must be that high :( ) but my windows memtest gets errors still @240 2-4-3-6 (and many many different a64tweaker settings)?
the sensors of the neo2 are crap - i'm really thinking about testing a gigabyte...still 3.4V and not even 240 stable and i really don't think it is just because of the ram.
is there any bios with some lower (hidden) ram settings? gained 5mhz from 1.36 to 1.37mod but still not enough. 250 must fall primestable ;)

Ηι guys !.

I have a winnie 3.0+[300*9 1.49vcore stable] and of course a msi k8n neo2

My questions is ,
When i set divider [utt@3.3v vdimmed mobo&ocz 520] 166/200 for example the mobo skrews up the settings and the sticks are hitwall , [i find that you must set 1/1 and change divider from a64tweaker into windows ;) ] then the sticks overl:banana::banana::banana::banana: as well as 1/1 almost.

The second is that mobo supports 150 and 180 dividers [from a64 tweker it works 150 and 180 ] but it isnt option on bios :( any bios for the hidden dividers ?

rzonealley
04-04-2005, 01:26 PM
mine almost have the same things happen. its seem my mobo didnt like divider much.
with divider my proc wont get higher clock. maybe this is due to newer mobo vers since
mine is K0501.

bout divider at 150 and 180 i dont think those option is available in bios even if its hidden.
unless theres people modd the bios. maybe trats, tictac or bigtoe will do it if u ask them.

Athens[2004]
04-04-2005, 01:42 PM
No its because when u set divider 166/200 e.g from bios the mobo setups automaticaly trc-trfc 10 and 12 from 12 and 14 if u change divider from a64tweaker manualy its ok .

trats, tictac or bigtoe WHERE ARE U GUYS

ok here are some news of mine:
with a64 tweaker and a lot of testing this and last night i had prime running for ~30min (then i had to go back to work) with 240 HTT 1:1 with 2-10-16-4-2-6-4-3-2-3 @ 3.38V (settings are left side of a64 tweaker top to bottom)
the timings are ONLY ONES that will work without giving prime errors.
i have a good 12kb win memtest here - if i have errors until 50% (takes 5mins) prime won't run stable. very usable for testing!
i flashed 1.36 mod bios, 1.37mod bios and 1.41 mod bios - 1.37mod seems to be "best". i don't like the few ram settings in bioss - just saw a screenie of a gigabyte board - that's what i want and i'm really thinkin' 'bout buying it (friend got one ) - if i had the money for a pci-e card :(
1.41 bios won't work 240 stable at any setting.
back to 1.37 mod now - my old settings are not working, but i have a little different voltage (too lazy to measure another time today, it's enough V....) getting some winmem errors i can't erease by timings - fast or low doesn't matter...
the board goes up to 260 but setting voltage higher 1.55V resulted in no boot...bios 1.41....not tested 1.37 mod yet because i'm trying to get 240 1:1 stable again.
target tonight is to prime 240...
maybe i will post a screen of my a64 tweaker in a few minutes...if anyone sees something wrong please feel free to tell me. but i tried a lot with the timings and some won't work (e.g. row refresh cycle time 16 noticable more stable than 14)

still having errors with these settings with the small memtest you see in the
pic.
another edit: i really really really really dunno why but it seems i have these timings working now @240 HTT 1:1
2-8-14-2-2-6-2-3-2-3 omfg why the hell i have to do so much with my a64 tweaker??? 241 seems to be totally maxed out and is going to be primed. strange : i never got ras to cas 2 working the first 2 days with one stick - just don't liked it as well as low timings. everytime i wanted to tune up i had more errors  now it works with very fast ones... :toast: ...well raised my hope to get at least 250 stable (but before i can't xs ram settings by bios i won't get htt working when oc by bios....)
maybe have to search how to burn my working ram settings into t
he bios - any suggestions???

another edit: still not primestable - getting errors after 10-20mins :( but i read some interesting timings with a64 tweaker here - will test it in 10min when i'm back home

If you need volts, stick with the 1.36.
Someone over here (http://www.rhcf.com/sisubb/ultimatebb.php/topic/21/9.html) tested some with a DMM, and it seems that some revert to 1.4V when taken past +10% Set.

Best for volts is WE7025NMS.136

+13% Set; Measures 1.64V
+15% Set; Measures 1.7V
+18.3% Set; Measures 1.74V

Is there anyway to get past that? I know Im getting greedy but I cant seem to get past 2.84 (258x11) stable but I can hit 270x10 stable. Id like to try 1.8v with my water cooling setup :|

In certain BIOS versions, you had to set the AGP to 67 in order to lock it. It looks like newer versions lock at 66 anyway though. Maybe someone knows exactly which versions do which.

You can actually download ClockGen, and it will tell you the current AGP speed (among other things). Make sure you download the version for the nForce3.

If your AGP is what it's supposed to be and you are overclocking, it means it is being locked.

hmm, not sure if this has been mentioned before (cbf reading the whole thread ;)) but if your neo2 boots instantly as soon as your psu is plugged in, and you just get 4 red leds on the d-bracket and it hangs, then try turning off the psu, and then holding the power button while you turn the psu back on. Works every time for me :D :toast:

my psu is a 480w antec, and it automatically starts up and hangs when i plug it in. This works every time ;). Once its up and running its fine, this just need to be done to get it to boot again after the psu has been unplugged for whatever reason.

im running trats 1.37b mod bios (which is supposed to work up to 1.8-1.9v). on my winnie and can only get it up to 1.61v. setting to 1.5v VID (1.525 and 1.55 don't make a difference, but anything under 1.5 lowers the volts in the correct increments) and setting to 10% over vid gives me 1.61v which sounds just a tad under considering it undervolts .1v with winnies. The board won't boot properley with anything over 10% though. setting to 13, 15 or 18% results in it booting at stock volts and its set back to "by cpu vid" in the bios

ideas? is it the bios? if so, what bios should i use?

thanks

Well I have Samsung TCCD (pc specs in post above), and I am currently using the 1.36mod. I am planning to give 1.41 a test, and will post back about differences I get.

CD 1986
04-21-2005, 10:16 AM
I'm currently testing 1.5, 1.5x and 1.6mod (earlier bioses are less stable on my system) to try and see if any bios has an advantage over the others...my PDP TCCD seems to like low voltages (2.55-2.60v)...so that may affect which bios works best in my system.

1.5 tops out on my system at 270mhz (dual channel) at 2.55v using 2.5-3-3-7 timings
1.5x tops out on my system at 272mhz (dual channel) at 2.55v using 2.5-3-3-7 timings
1.6mod tops out on my system at 273mhz (dual channel) at 2.60v using 2.5-3-3-7 timings

All bioses gave me 3Dmark stable / Prime95 stable benchmarks at 270mhz...but only 1.6mod was able to pass the same tests at 275mhz! I did get a few memtest errors however so it isn't completely stable. I also found that 1.6mod was more stable at 2.60v (v-dimm) as opposed to 2.55v which seemed to be best for the 1.5 versions.

They all seem very close in performance / stability, but i found 1.6mod to be the slightly better of the 3 on my system! :)

Yeh, the 1.6 bios has no advantage over the 1.5 versions as far as i can see...i'm sticking with 1.5x Mod for now...until MSI release a better bios!!!

Things like accurate temperatures, adjustable chipset voltage, and more relaxed internal timings to get higher HTTs (like the DFIs have) on this board would be a great start! But will MSI listen....

I just got my first A64 and would like to tweak it a bit for more performance. I'm kinda new at this game, so I would like to have a few helping leads on this journey.
My HW is:
A64 3200+ Whin., MSI K8N NEO2 Platinum, 2x Kingston HyperX (KHX3200K2/1G - BH5), ATI Sapphire Radeon 9800 Pro.
Right now I've been OC'ing a bit with just ajusting the HTT to 225, but I'm not sure if that's the right approach?
Another thing is that I'm running a raid, and have another SATA disk I would like to use. How long can I push the OC before my other SATA will go corrupt?

Hi guys,

I’ve just passed trough a nightmare with the BIOS 1.52 modded.

I read in somewhere that it was a good BIOS, so I went test it. Just after flashing it successfully, the computer didn’t post anymore. Dead, muerto, nothing on screen. It turns on for like 3 seconds and then shut down. I though I had killed the motherboard. After installing the D-Bracket, looking at the combination of lights, it seems to be the processor, a less than 24-hours A64 3200+ Winnie. “OMFG, I burned the processor” crossed my mind!

After resetting the CMOS, taking off the battery, taking off processor, memories, vga, everything, I went to a friend’s house and we searched the web. That was for my luck that I found some topics about it, with exactly the same thing that happened to me.

This 1.52 BIOS is too aggressive for the memories. And that was the problem. I have ordered a Corsair 3200XL and it still hasn’t arrived; I’m using a simple bad SpecTek DDR400, which was unable to turn it on.

My friend has the Corsair 3200XL, so I borrow one stick, and the computer came back to life!!! :D Now I’ve returned to official BIOS 1.6 and I recommend to stay away from the 1.52. The 1.41b has shown to be good also, but I will only mess up when my 3200XL arrives.

Watch out with modded BIOS, it can f*ck your system! ;)

The said bios does this with quite a lot memory sticks. It's well known and mentinoed several times in this thread. Glad you got your system up and running again. I reccomend the 1.6mod bios btw. It boots faster.

can someone give me link to the newest BIOS that support venice and it's modded version? thanx

also I want to know, my corsair Corsair 1024XLPT3200 seems unstable even with 2.85 volt at 3-4-4-8@300mhz, I know that my current newcastle is sux ----> imagine 2.5ghz with 1.6 volt and air cooling is unstable for PRIME!!! :(after 2 hours it was error ---> it is 3500+ man, so only 300Mhz overclock!

bad proc eh? but seriously, do my corsair affected by the bad proc or it just damn sux too?

thanx, oh yeah, I would like to order venice from someone, will with the 3000+ Neo2 PLT could reach 320+ HTT? with divider of course, or should I order the 3200+ that will give me higher multiplier?

Hi guys,

I spend the last entire night trying to install the Windows XP from the SATA 3 & 4, using RAID 0, and nothing.

I tried at least 5 different drivers from the RAID, pressing the F6, but the installation wasn't founding the RAID Array.

I looked into the forums about K8N Neo2 and I found a lot of cases like this, and lots of guys that just gave up using RAID, because they didn't wanted to use ports 1 & 2.

I tried formatting even with Partition Magic, but again, the XP wasn't recognizing the Array. Sometimes it saw the 2 separated disks, sometimes nothing.

Now comes the trick!

So, I decided to get a try: I reseted the BIOS to Fail Defaults, put the CPU to default clock, enabled the RAID in all ports, and using the ports 1 & 2, in Stripe, the RAID 0 was recognized by XP installation. I used the original floppy from the motherboard, with the original raid drivers.

I installed the Windows XP normally, applied the Service Pack 2, and then swap back the SATA 1 to 3, and 2 to 4. Now, with XP installed, and the HDs on the ports 3 & 4, the Windows booted normally, everything allright!! RAID 0 working and rocking in performance!!

- BIOS v 1.5.
- CPU and Memo at default speeds.
- Original drivers from Floppy that comes into the mobo.

Good luck to all, and it's working very fine!!

Hey guys,
What Does "DRAM Drive Strength" mean??

DRAM Drive Strength "Weak" means Bank Interleave Disabled?
DRAM Drive Strength "Normal" means Beank Interleave Enabled?

Need to know as I'm using the PC3200 GOLD on my K8N Neo2 @ 200MHz 2.8v 2-2-2-5 (with everything set to "auto" in Memtest86+ v1.55) & I get 35 odd errors...

Hi everyone,

I'm been having a really vexing problem with my k8n neo2 and ocz vx 4000 memory. For some weird reason, I can't set my athlon64 3800+ > 2.2ghz when my vx4000 is set at 250 @ 3.4v 2-2-2-8

If I try set cpu > 2.2, when I try boot into windows I get a win32k.sys (or something similar) bsod (or the computer seems stable, then when I switch off the computer and cold boot it doesn't post and the bios gives continuous long beeps, and I have to reset the cmos). If I set the memory below 250mhz but leave voltage at 3.4v I still get bsod.

I've tried a couple of different bios (1.41, 1.5, 1.6, 1.8mod), upped vcore all the way up to 1.7v, relaxing memory timings from 2-2-2-8 => 2.5-4-3-7, different memory slot combinations (usually the vx is in slots 1 & 2, ddr booster on slot 4), doesn't help. :bsod:

Lowering the ddr booster voltage to 3.2v *seems* to help a bit, but then the vx doesn't get enough juice and fails super pi 32m at 250mhz. Lowering mem speed below 250 with 3.2v helps too but it defeats the purpose of having VX in the first place.

The weirdest part is, all this started happening roughly sometime between me burning in my vx, replacing my busted ddr booster for a new one, flashing my bios to 1.6 and installing watercooling on my cpu. Before all that, I was happily running at 2.5ghz, mem 250 3.4v 2-2-2-6 no probs.

I know my vx4000 isn't bad memory b/c I've done well over 100+ hrs test#5 memtest loop and 48+ hr full memtest loop at 200 3.1v 2-2-2-10 for burning in. I've swapped out the vx for my old ocz pc3200 plat rev2 and I can reach 2.8ghz with 1.7v, mem 265 @ 2.9v 2.5-4-3-7, no problems.

I've already set agp 67, aggressive timings off, coolnquiet off, fast writes off, dram strength normal, htt 4x.

Not sure if this would be a problem, but when I was getting my previous cpu cooler out it also yanked out my athlon out of its socket (arctic silver 4 is too adhesive :p ), but it seems to be working fine, considering I can do 2.8ghz with it...

Please Help! I'm completely stumped. :(

DRAM Drive Strength is not Bank interleave.

DRAM Drive Strength can be set from 1 to 8 on the DFI boards, but only to weak or normal on the MSI. Weak means odd numbers (1,3,5,7 for DFI, ? for MSI) and Normal means even numbers (2,4,6,8 DFI, ? MSI). TCCD prefer a weak setting, and BH prefer a stronger ("normal") setting, although at default they usually both work fine also.

Figured that out when I had a proper look at the DFI bios & MSI bios at the same time...

All the same, still erroring out on both machines whereas my 2x256MB XMS3500 flies on both machines at the tightest timings possible...

"DRAM Bank Interleave: set to "on" & I can run 11x220HTT on the DFI (haven't tried lower multis) & 10x240HTT on my MSI...

The PC3200 GOLD just errors out, expecially at Test 7 & less errors on the other tests...

Man do I regret selling my 2x512MB XMS3500 just so I could get VX4000 because of the "DDR500 @ 2-2-2-8 @ 3.3v"... Then because they were faulty, I changed both the RAM & PSU just to get another set of faulty RAM...

I've attached a pic of the timings that the K8N Neo2's bios sets as default when I get errors in Memtest...

The default settings with my DFI are looser than the MSI's but I still get errors...

Anyways, I've already applied for another RMA & will just stick with 2x256MB XMS3500 for the time being in hope that the replacement PC3200 GOLD is actually what it says in it's title... "GOLD"...

Oh well, looks like I'll have to save up some money and get my hands on a dfi board then... or a new cpu. There's probably a good chance that I busted the mem controller after yanking out of the socket (note to self: never use Arctic Silver 4 with an Athlon64 :p: ) or the "1.6" bios update just screws the mobo up irreversibly

Yeh, don't use mem slots 3&4 if you are OCing memory on the Neo2 - it just doesn't like it! Strange that you can't run above 2.4Ghz...what bios are you using...and what is the max HTT your board can take if you drop the multiplier?

My guess is that some bios settings might be holding you back if you can run at 2.4G at stock voltages.

Personally, I use 1.45v + xx% to over-volt, and i'd suggest using that rather than the 1.50v option.

Make sure when you're priming that you use the "small FFT" option in case it's your memory that is giving the P95 errors. I've found that 1.5x Mod works well with my TCCD memory btw. :)

HELP!

I'm having alot of trouble getting 1.65v to stick I've tried pretty much all the bioses. 1.36b has been the most stable so far, but frequenty e when I reboot or cold boot my voltage gets bumped to 1.675 and fluctuates to 1.71 and this causes instability. When I'm lucky enought to boot properly at 1.65 my system is rock solid.

My specs:

Winchester 3000+
290HTT x 9
HyperX TCCD PC3200 166divider 2.5-3-3-6 1T @ 2.8v
1.45vcore 13% overvolt

I was wondering what could be the problem why is my vcore unstable and boots up at different voltages randomly?

I got my Geil ULTRA - X TCCD's. I know they do 300 HTT on DFI and on the NEO2 since it's been testet. It's supposed to run 290 2.5-4-3-7 at 2.7v memteststable.
I can't get the memory stable at 285 even with 3-4-4-10 and up to 2.85v. Tested any voltage combination - activecooled the RAM, flashed 1.36b, 1.37b, 1.6mod - no success.
The only thing i can do now is run a divider and have it at 240 2.5-3-3-7 wich is not satisfying.
I allready tested slot 3 and 4 but they are unstable. Also switched the modules around. No go.

Any suggestions what else i can do to get this RAM stable at 285+?
Is it my motherboard or CPU that craps out? The CPU is primestable when i run the RAM on a divider btw.

Edit: Also tryed DRAM strengh weak and normal.
Sometimes i get one run at 2.5-4-4-8 stable but sooner or later it craps out. Relaxing timings doesn't seem to affect it. :(
If i try the 183 ratio in A64 tweaker my system freezes.

Did several thimgs and my situation seems to improove. I flashed 1.37mod again since it seems good for TCCD. At the same time i placed a 80mm fan in front of the RAM's since they get really hot. Now i seem to be stable at 285 2.5-4-4-10 at 2.7v.
I think i mostly tried CL3 to be safe until i read somewhere that a guy had TCCD that doesn't like CL3 but runs fin at 2.5. I don't know what helped. Maybe it's a combination of all things but i am quite happy now. I'll try to get to 289 next and maybe i can get some tighter timings out of it as well. If not i am pleased still.
7.5k bandwith is not bad and i upgraded from sticks i had to run at 190mhz (2:3 ratio).

Suggestions that improove my setup are still welocme btw.

Edit: Bah i meant to edit my above post. :(
Could get to 285 2.5-4-4-8 2.7v. No dreamtimings but not crappy either i guess.

@ Flying hamster - the fact that you can run "small FFT" ok, but not blend suggests it's a memory problem. Try downloading Windows MemTest, since it will show up memory errors whilst running windows instead of DOS. If that test shows errors, it's a matter of relaxing the timings slightly or playing with mem voltages. On the Neo2, my TCCD wouldn't run stable at 270mhz @ 2.5-3-3-8, but runs rock solid at 290mhz and beyond at 2.5-4-4-8 so it's a matter of compromise.

@ Brian2k1 - if the voltages aren't stable then it's most likely the mobtherboard or the Power Supply at fault. What rating is your Antec PSU? If it's drawing too high a load then voltages will suffer and fluctuate as a result!

@ mustrum - have you tried using lower voltages out of interest? When i was playing with my TCCD using 2.5-3-3 timings, it behaved better at 2.55-2.60v but would error at higher voltages! The lower voltages also prosuce a lot less heat. Although when i relaxed the timings to 2.5-4-4 it seemed that 2.70v worked the best...it might be worth trying lower voltages if you haven't done so already.

Btw, my memory also hates CL3 and randomnly reboots if i use it, so stick to testing with 2.5!

I tested the voltages of my PSU with a multimeter and its rock solid even at full load 11.96v 12.01v idle. Its an antec Trupower480 460w. But I've since learned these mobos don't like antecs. Anyway, I've just overvolted it a bit more in the bios to compensate for now, but I'm still getting vcore fluctuations between 1.63-1.66 and was wondering if this is normal. I have my vcore set to 1.45v and 15%overvolt in the bios. Is this normal to have small voltage fluctuations, or should it be rock solid @ 1.65 with no fluctuations? I was getting the same thing with my ABIT NF7S same powersupply I don't think its the mobo since my experience is identical with my abit and the HTT overl:banana::banana::banana::banana: on this mobo is insane 335HTT . I'm going to get my hands on my friends Vantec to test things out further.

Btw, my memory also hates CL3 and randomnly reboots if i use it, so stick to testing with 2.5!
Just tryed that out but no luck. 2.70 volts seem to be the sweetspot for mine on this mobo. I'd love to have 2.5-3-3 but i am happy as it is. I had 72000 points in Aquamark before the memory upgrade. Now i have 80475. Quite a big improvement IMO. The 80mm fan at 5Volts i installed keeps the RAM cool too so 2.7v shouldn't be an issue.

@Brian: I had a OCZ Powerstream 520W but switched to a cheapo 550 LC Power (24A on 12 Rail, Cheap but good reviews and stable Rails and most important: a 120 fan i control with fancontrol) because the OCZ was way too loud. I couldn't see a differenc in vcore stability at all.
My vcore fluctuates between 1.568 and 1.578 and i think that's caused by the board and not the PSU.

hmmm...your vcore fluctuates only .01v mine thats alot better then my .03v fluctuations....I think it may be the powersupply but I spent alot of money on this antec and when I had my ABIT NF7S I just couldn't even concieve it was my PSU that was the causing the fluctuations and wrote it off as a mobo issue but the same thing is happening now, I just dont have enough experience to know whether this is normal or not, but my multimeter says everything is solid.

I never had one by myself but i read quite some negative stuff about antecs a while ago. They had some serious problems with the 12v rail a while ago but got it fixed on newer models.
Only way to find out is swapping the PSU i fear.

I don't have the board with me now, but i remember when i set the voltage to over-volt to 1.55v, it would fluctuate between 1.53-1.55v, although usually it was stable at 1.55v. Never caused any stability problems for me, but your fluctuations do seem unusually large.

You really need to get hold of a different brand of PSU to test with, as it's the only way to find the source of the error. But as you say that the Neo2 and Antec supplies have known issues...that might well be a contributary factor. Most boards will have voltage fluctuations, but not by that amount IMO.

I have a cheap 550w Colors-IT supply, bought on eBay for £25, and so far it has worked flawlessly. It's also nice and quiet due to a single 120mm fan.

well I tried what u said and found some interesting results. using "small FFT" it primed for over an hour fine, so I decided to stop and try blend.. then it failed in a few seconds. i ran memtest test #5 overnight at this speed and it didnt get any errors. should I try a different test or just let them all run overnight? could it just be my mobo that is bad??

any help would be greatly appreciated

use occt, ull get testing done much quicker and it tests the entire system and plus it outputs the voltages to graphs for you. :toast:

could a corrupt/bad install of windows cause errors in prime and other applications?

ok, ran memtest in windows and it got an error in like 10 seconds, and errors just kept comin. weird how dos memtest doesnt get any errors.

im running my gskill at 240fsb, 2.5-4-3-7, stock voltage. :stick: I woulda that this gskill could do 240fsb @ stock voltage

gonna up vdimm to 2.6 and see if i still get errors.

EDIT: well, 2.6-2.7vdimm didnt help any. should I RMA my ram? this is ridiculous.. unstable at 240fsb w/ even 2.6vdimm

Yeh, DOS memtest is not a great tool to use, as what is stable in DOS isn't stable in windows! That G-skill should be able to do 280+ with ease! Try higher voltages...and maybe loosen timings to 2.5-4-4-8 if voltages don't help things.

Are you using any SATA drives?

FlyingHamster

nope, no SATA drives.

Ouch, RMA time i'd say! Was that using 1.36b bios? And what's stock voltage on those G.skills?

You should try each stick individually with Windows MemTest to see if one is faulty...if both produce errors it might not be a memory problem...it's extremely unlikely both sticks would be faulty!

download speed fan(its a small prog and doesnt require a reboot iirc) and use that. Select test for testing. About your ram, try using 2.85v, i remember some peoples gskills like 2.85, some of them like 2.7. On the nf4 DFI boards they need 3.0v-3.1V. I dont remember if u have tried switching the ram sticks around as well in the ram slots or even trying other ram slots. On the neo2 ur supposed to use the 2 closest to the cpu(again i dont know if u have tried).

I agree. You might need some more voltage on your RAM. MY RAM ran at 2.7v even at 300mhz on 2 other boards but i need 2.75v for only 285mhz. I think my PSU undervolds the 3.3v rail a bit or it's the board that undervolts.
Maybe your sticks just need some more voltage even if the rail is at 3.3v.
Just tried OCCT. Good program. I like the graphs it puts out after you're finished.

Its your Board.

I have tried and tried, but I cant get my Neo2 to run the RAM higher than 215-220 with divider. (1:1 works great .. 270+ easy)
I have tried all the BIOSs that are out there, different sticks, different CPU´s and been messing around with A64 Tweaker for god knows how many hours.
I even bought a second mobo, but im stuck at 215-220 on RAM with divider.
Pretty anoying when you have got a ClawCastle that does 3.2Ghz, but the 11 multi needs a 186Mhz divider.

Both my Neo2´s are Korea batch, and I get the feeling it has got something to do with it. Everybody I know with the Neo2 has got Taiwan or China, and neither of them has had this problem.

If you find out anything, please post here :)

First of all, flash to 1.6v BIOS because it gives you accurate temp. readings which is important to watch when your on stock cooling. Neo2 allows 2.85v (overvolts to ~2.90) on Ram. Set HTT to 4X and try reach at least 230 fsb with 2.85v option. This should give your winnie 2.07ghz. You can go safely till 2.5ghz+ on stock. I think your sticks are bh-5, so I suggest doing vdrr mod (3.3v volt mod) to give your sticks 3.3v, which is safe for bh-5. Small fan blowing at them wouldn't hurt. Read the whole first post, oc for some time and tell us your results

Remember, best way to learn is to try it yourself, try to find yours cpu and ram limits, Good luck

Thanks for the help.
I think the RAM that I have is what you guys call TCCD.
Should that make a difference?

Ok, I see. You got TCCD chips on your ram, so use 2.85v option, it's safe for 24/7 anyway. You should get at least 275 fsb (550mhz) with these if they are TCCD. Try 2.5-4-3-8 timings at 2.85v and find out how far you can go with that. Try to settle around 290 fsb with HTT 3x, CPU with VID: 1.55v + 8.3% overvoltage which should give you 1.55v vcore (2610 mhz for cpu). That should be fine for stock cooling. If your winnie and ram can handle, go more than 290fsb. Remember some Neo2s have problems when you exceed 290fsb mark. Mine does 305fsb fine :D

Refer to first post for additional settings!

Use Memtest to test ram stability ( press c,1,3,5,enter in memtest to loop #5 test. 50 successfull loops should equal great stability),

Prime95 ( prime for at least 2 hours. Some winnies fail this app even at stock, keep that in mind)

SuperPI (finish 16M calculation or 32M to test stability)

If everything goes well or you want more mhz's, reply

Is there any way to get around the TRFC problem? Im on a 1.36b modded bios atm and want to run 290x9 with the mem at "333" (= 238~mhz iirc..), though i can't get into windows from the bios (either resets, locks up, or gets into windows and the screen gets corrupted at the "Welcome" message) , though i can get into windows easy (and be prime stable) at 260x10, mem "333". Yep, use ClockGen to increase your speed, find max stable at certain timings and lastly set them accordingly in the BIOS

Nice HTT there :D Unfortunely, running divider decreases memory stability because it lowers TRFC timing. If you can, upgrade your ram to something like OCZ PC3200 Rev2 TCCD which does DRR630 easily, priced at $200

Jacke2k, have you tried moving the AGP frequency from 66 to 67? I have heard this helps for some K8N Neo2's.
