I'm looking around for a power supply that will go into a new AMD64 system that i'll eventually mod.

There are a few psu's i've seen mentioned over and over which one would you suggest, and if it's not listed what would you recommend.

Fortron 550W EPS12V PSU

OCZ PowerStream 520W
http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproductdesc.asp?DEPA=0&description=17-104-152&ATT=Power+Supplies&CMP=OTC-pr1c3grabb3r

I've also seen some sparkles (sp) around for pretty cheap but i haven't found too much info on those.

I have a 300w Antec atm but that's barely powering all my hd's :D

If you have the money, get the OCZ Powerstream.
If not, then the 530W Fortron is an excellent choice. Recommended by many members on this forum (look for a topic about this PSU). Only 75$ at newegg

OCZ if you can afford it.
Forton if you can't.

That Fortron 550W has a beefier 12V if i recall correctly, two separate 12V at 18A totalling 36A.
Which one is better is hard to tell, OCZ has external pots though while the Fortron has internal.

I would go for the OCZ compared to the Fortron, although i'm still doubting about the OCZ Vs the Ultra-X connect

If that PCP&C Black Power thread didn't scare you, and if you have the money, the PCP&C is officially the highest rated retail PSU availible. With a peak of 650watts.

I have the OCZ 520 PSU, and it works great. In fact, the PSU is responsible for getting me an extra 10 MHz on my GPU core clock.

Any particular reason why you guys highly recommened the OCZ?
Judging by their specs, isn't the Fortron able to deal with a higher amperage draw?

I mean, I wanna know I'm not just paying more for the pretty smoked chrome finish and the led fan :p:

Think i'll order up the OCZ from newegg this week and see if that'll help my IT7 Max2 get over 200fsb. The thing simply refuses to move heh.

Btw, anyone with pics to Hipro5's IT7 Max2 (v1 / v2) mods could you pm me i'd love to get those pics they're missing from his posts now :D

You OCZ PowerStream users are like sheep :D PCP&C is just as good, if not better than OCZ.

What are you planning on powering with what you buy? I'd say fortron, unless you have a wad of cash to blow then i'd say PC power is the way to go.

enermax noisetaker 600watt. the 510 turbo dlx was too noisy and drove me nuts. I jsut sold it the other day.
