Not sure yet. thats un-insulated and burning off a lot. Chilly is adding a valve to manually adjust the flow.
Tonight may be the last run of old faithfull. now reaching a year old, it still has the same charge from Comdex.

Are you seeing double?
There are two identical blocks.

So how does this thing work?
chilly1
10-04-2004, 04:35 PM
First there is a 1/4 inch diptube in the Ln2 then this splits into two .060 ID tubes 1 foot for the cpu and 1.5 ft for the gpu, then throuh the blocks where the Ln2 is allowed to boil then the Gas (n2 goes through the suction lines to the accumulator ( an old recovery cylinder with two inlets one at the bottom and another at the top. The top outlet will prevent the Ln2 from contacting the pump.
So this is phase change at the xtreme.
The dewer lost its vacume so the Ln2 wont last long, but we will have a good run and pics soon..

crazy.
In and awesome and really cool sort of way :D

Here is setting up, we had a bad start with no LN2 in the dewer to do any damage. We test fitted and flow tested the blocks, they need balancing adjustments.
We only had about a gallon of LN2

Do you predict how many quantity of ln2 you need to run only one bench
Those kind of temperatures are very disturbing -300F
What is te relation with liters = gallons

Ln2 85.00 for 15 liters. But we had a dewer that had no vacume so it boiled off in 5 hours.... The last 4 or 5 liters we dumped outside looked cool though...

ok i have some ? i am in australia bought some LN2 today $2.55 per/L so i got 10Litres
now 1 of my other friends asked if when u put LN2 into the tunnel tube does it cause the silicon to stress crack when u pour ln2 into it first go

a bit OT:
Go to BOC Gases, they sell LN2 for $1.50 per litre. Also if the LN2 is for a school they will rent you a 10 litre dewar for $100/month, otherwise its BYO dewar.

and its for my personal bench test i wanna see how high my xp3000 goes

Once me and some friends went to BOC to get some ln2 just to mess around with, and we told them it was for a science project. They lent us the dewar, gave us the ln2, and didn't charge us a cent... and they told us to come back if we needed more ;)

just wondering - ever revisited this experiment?

yes sir we have
The result was the Ln2 set up we used at teh Texas gaming convention..
The best results to date with Ln2 are gotten by the use of a low mass evaporator and direct expansion of Ln2.. Large mass/thick blocks raise temperature. The Thermal conductivity of copper at -200C is real good it is still not superconducting and there is a delta..

Revive an old thread :)
Did it say that he was using a hand valve to meter the LN2 ?
If so what valve would that be ?
