I am guessing, due to the lack of benches, it's not bench stable. One hell of an OC though.

Not bench stable - just a screenshot record :)

The CPU powersupply seems to require quite a bit of modding in order to bench past 5.4GHz. The chip does 5.4G Superpi already at 1.55V and -90C temp. Upping Vcore to 1.7V and getting it down to -130C wont make it go any further. So something is obviously holding it back quite a bit. Better unleash the soldering iron :D
Never forget the Supa IGA Catalogue (https://www.catalogueau.com/iga/) when you decide to go to a shopping trip.

Hmm, i was thinking of selling my NF7-S and XP-M IQYHA @ 2600MHz for this board and a 3.2GHz LGA chip.

Macci, what is achivable at stock? (e.g. no voltmods and stock cooling, i might break out the water cooling, but it will involve getting a new CPU block.)

Anyway, that is a rediculous overclock, let's hope it can become benchable at that. :)

With stock vcore, heatsink and 80mm Delta fan, it was SPI 8M stable at 4150MHz. When a R404 modded Mach2 was bolted on, it was SPI 8M stable at 4639MHz (http://www.akiba-pc.com/3.6E/507.PNG).

Salkcin

Pretty impressive - beated THG's "record" with 700MHz...

Kind a off topic... Macci+The stilt:
I noticed that you've done a voltage mod on the northbridge along with peltier cooling. Was this really necerssary to reach the 6G's? I currently have a Asus P5P800 with a P4 520 (2.8GHz). It boots 285Mhz FSB default voltage and 275MHz into Windows... Nothing helps me getting the CPU stable above 3,6GHz (260+Mhz FSB) - decrease FSB:MEM ratio, increase the vcore 150mV, cooling the mosfets and northbridge by 2500RPM 80mm fans... could it really be that the northbrdige needs more voltage and better cooling (i865PE has never had any problems reaching 300+ FSB)? I tried both Q-tec 550watt and Fortron 350watt... makes no diffrence on stability (though specs are diffrent)

Salkcin

well, Nick corrected the article...
CHIP FIRM Intel's much loved, cool and calm Prescott chip has been overclocked to more than 6009 MHz.

According to a techi forum at xtreme systems, here, a 19 year old Finnish techie, who goes by the handle of Stilt, took his P4 560, 3.60GHz, added much liquid nitrogen into his cooling system and got the Prescott to its blistering speed. A chap called Macci is also behind these cunning engineering moves.

Of course you are not going to be able to run a Prescott at that speed in a box. In fact it is a moot point if you can run one at conventional speeds in a box, and so Stilt has published a picture of his set up here.

You can just make out the Prescott under that six foot chimney stack of a cooling system and the pipes from the Hoover Dam. µ

hehe, man...amazing macce and stilt :P ur in the tabloids !

How does a 5.5GHz Prescott compare to a 3+ GHz FX in 3dmark ?

On another note the only Abit I ever managed to get UGURU working with clockgen was the VIA Pro AMD K8 board.

WOOW :slobber: awesome OC Guys :toast:

but IMO we dont need the more Ghz any more :) 5Ghz enough .. what the need of more speed :)

other think must keep up with this speed like

harddisk speed ; and this the most sick
ram speed
more speed with graphics card
and the chip bandwidth etc
converting to full 64bit environment
then the 6ghz would be massive :)

BTW guys its looks like we dont need the low temp anymore to get the high speed ?

its LN2 enogh or wee need more cause we get -0C and it looks like more than enough and the factor of the oc depend on the chip on it self rather than temp ? its true

Little bit of sarcasm?

Why does it bother you, if we were using my version (translated to finnish, by me) of SuperPi, when you (or everyone else) can do the same thing?

If you think that it matters, we can use the original version of SuperPI (english translation).

Isn´t that fair enough, that I give my broken P4P800 board as spareparts for you (to my worst competitor) , that you can fix your broken board? If that gesture isnt thing that can be called "Reilu meininki", what is?

It´s a straight fact, that we do this just for fun.
Do you?

Now seems more like it. A tweak worth 800Mhz with P4 would seem a little too xtreme (as xtremely unfair and cheap), which particularly pissed me off :D Glad you fixed it before I said any more insults :D

With 21x265mhz it would be approximately the WR without any cheasy tweaks, so If your new toys can do it, you dont need no tweaks :toast:

I dont mind frying the CPU or the memory module(DDR)to attain maximum bandwidth.

Do u guys have any recommendations that is best for OC-ing? ie. Motherboard, CPU, VGA Card, cooler/heatsink?

to be honest it will not be easy, there is no guide, u have to read, learn and take ur own initiative

you should read XS a lot, they used liquid nitrogen to cool the cpu, read about it in the dry ice and liquid nitrogen section

Using Mathematica 5.2, it takes only 4.7 seconds to compute Pi to 1 million digits on my stock PowerMac (Dual 2.3 GHz G5).

Oh, and it uses a single single-core CPU.

cpu-z 1.24 used... no verification or anything... well sure
you say its macci , no need to verify it at all... how typical

if it were anyone else you would have torn his results allready

the mods should ban you for making comments like that. if people attack record setters like that maybe they wont share it with the community in the future and we will have to learn about it through news sites like slasdot.

macci would NOT cheat.

It only seems like 5 minutes ago, that we broke the 1Ghz barrier... Now we laugh at that and its 6Ghz.

How long is it going to be before we laugh as sub 10Ghz PCs ?

6 Ghz is one hell of a speed no doubt about that.

Nice one.

This thread is 3 years old and we've already broken the 8 GHz barrier.

Though this was an amazing achievement at the time.
