I'm using that stuff in mine right now for testing. It's $2.50 a gallon here. One thing though, if it isn't moving around it will freeze up around the evap.

--EDIT--

Just ran a test with my pump going and it would get down to around -7c and then the whole evap would get covered in a slushy consistency of goop. The temps wouldn't budge after that. I don't know if it mattered where my pump was pushing the liquid, but I think just moving it around at all would help.

Attached is what I used and what it looks like after I pumped out most of the liquid. When this stuff gets unfrozen then it will be the same as the liquid, it's quite odd.

Again, this is after -7c. It starts forming all around the evap and the pipes. After encasing all of it the temperature doesn't drop anymore.

What I really think is odd is the fact that it says that it is good down to -50F not diluted. This is barely 19F and it's freezing over.

I don't think there's anything that I can be doing wrong, unless somehow my 5150 BTU a/c goes below -50F on the surface of the evap.

actually if you read the back mine says at around 0 F it will slush up a little...i dunno.

You're right, mine says that some slushiness will occur.

So it looks like I'll be looking for some denatured alcohol or straight up antifreeze.

i wouldnt recomend the A cuz the smell but antifreeze will work....if i was you i would measure the lowest temps your chiller reaches without anyhting else on and do a ratio to match that...50/50 should hit -34C if im not mistaken so im sure you can keep the antifreeze from being to thick? just a thought..oh and im thinking you got the crappy stuff cuz no slushy stuff or anything..ill tell you how low i get before slush appears once i get done moving.
