I want replace my 1.8A with 2.66 C1.
A little question : is it possible to run it at 3.3-3.4 ghz with watercooling only ?
Plz post your oc result with this chip (including voltage and cooling).

Thanks :) :)

What was the highest you were able to push your 1.8a with just WC? Just purchased me a 1.8a to tinker around with on an abit it7 max2 and out of the box i'm stable at 2.8 with stock air on it. WC/Pelt should be here wed this week so i'm anxious to see what i can crank her up to. I've seen quite a few other posts of ppl doing 2.6-2.8 with air so these little guys are cranking. I'd like to find a good article on tweaking out the it7max2 but so far no luck.

On a side not two friends purchased a couple of p4 2.5's and one is doing 2.9 on air with stock hsf and the other can only manage 3.1 (prime stable) and 3.3 (unstable prime) with a wc/226wpelt rig  . He even volt mod'd the 2.5 with no luck in achieving a higher clock. It's also one of the new C1 steppings. I believe he's got the worst luck i've ever seen heh

http://www.geocities.com/henry_moniaga/3100.txt (not stable, can't do 3dm2k1), 2.9ghz (1.7v) for 24/7 use, 3.05ghz (1.8v) for benching.

Anyone with 2.66 ??

Thanks !!

If you are lucky, one of the newer batches of 1.8A might do 3ghz on watercooling. Mine does that on air but requires just a little bit too much voltage for me to be comfortable on air cooling so I run it at 2.9ghz 24/7.

Seems like all of these 1.8A cpus (mine is SL63X pack dated 23/7/02) are doing 2.7ghz minimum. Definitely the best value cpu available at the moment, especially when you consider the sort of fsb you are running at this sort of overclock.

The C1 steppers seem to be a mixed bunch - most will do 3ghz, but anything over that requires a bit of luck in what cpu you get. I would wait until the stepping matures a bit and filters through the supply chain, by that time (about Christmas) you should be able to buy 1.8ghz C1 steppers that have a good chance of doing 3ghz+ easily. Certainly that would be the only cpu that could tempt me away from this 1.8A I've got at the moment. (unless Intel pull out a 3ghz cpu that will do 3.8ghz:p)

Hi Henry you should be ok with water at 3.3/3.4g mine will run that speed at default volts in the prommie :)

What's your stepping?

My chip (SL6DX) runs 3ghz at default vcore and 3.36 stable at 1.75V on my water setup. Just waiting for my prommie now. :D

Toofast - How high can you run at w/ your prommie setup?

Running 3409 @ 170/226 using 3:4 . 1.66 vcore(or lower, thanks to a erratic, fluctuating Abit) I've got a Malaysia SL6DX with a pack date of 08/28/02. Straight H20, Eheim 1250, DD Maze3, heater core.

Thanks for the info. On my water chilled system, I was able to 3DMK at 3400 at 1.8V and sandra at ~3420 at 20C cpu temp.

Henry,

My 2.66 on an IT7 MAX runs stable at 3.2 on air....prometeia is already on it's way here....will post differences after install.

I am not sure how much faster I can go with the prom, but soon we will know the difference a prom cam make;)

Using a Sunflower with intel fan....not that terrific.

Can't complain much....a 540 mhz overclock on air.:D

core voltage 1.6v

I hope to get one when the prices drop. Want to hit 3GHz:eek:

2.66 benched at 3210 @ 1.58volts load.....See sig for 3dmark compare...but this baby wouldnt even prime for more than 2 minutes above 3gig....

Any higher volts would not make a difference at all, even above 1.85 set in bios would make system unstable whereas backing down to 1.625 in bios was fine....wierd....

Anyways wouldnt even post at 3.3 and this was with water and air....:(

Ive gone back to a nice 2.4B that i bought and she gets into windows at 3160 and primes at 3100 for about 15 mins before crashing...3gig is 100% stable though @ 1.65volts. Again more volts doesnt mean better results with this chip either....:)

Im selling the 2.66 and and going to whack this 2.4 into the vapo when she arrives.....dunno when that is though yet, cos im still saving for it :D

I am at 3.91Ghz 169FSB 24/7 but I use chilled water.

3.2Ghz is realistic, with just water

is that chip unlocked? at 169 with a 2.66, that would only be 3380 mhz.....

Its table, but not the fastest, the 4.5 Geil DDR Ram has to be 1:1
that means only 185 Mhz.

Its faster at:

2.66@3.60 then the ram goes 240

I found out, that the newest batch right now was the 2.66 not the 2.80 ! Its dated late oktober 2002.

This work with the 2.66 only help me to see the limit of the Ram, my old 2.80 can't OC past 171.
Later I will post picture of how to "strip" the CPU from the shim, an get realy god contact to the cobber-coolingelement.

That's a mighty fine OC Mr. Holck. Do you have any benchmarks either at that speed or at 3.6ghz as you said. Share 'em:)
