Putting new oil

I wonder if it's possible to put some new compressor oil through the Discharge line, should 1/2 Liter (1/8 Gallon) be enaugh for a 1/4hp compressor?

I'm not sure, but I believe you are suppose to put oil back throug the suction line. Check the sticky about lardarse's 3 phase change guides for the answer.

the only way to change the oil is to measure it once you pour it out.
then add the same amount, can also find data sheet that will have it.

add oil to suction line, can turn compressor on to suck and pour as well.

The suction line on hermetic compressors is open to the shell this is where the oil resides...
