If it has AP as the last letters of the stepping its a C0, if its a CG stepping it will have AR.

We call them C0 and CG because thats what CPU-Z calls them.

I know neweggs pic is of a C0, but newegg never updates their pics with new product revisions. Their NF7-S rev 2 pic was from the rev 1 board for months and months.

How long ago did you buy it, and was it from newegg?

mmm, that sounds good. Now I just need to get off my lazy butt and finish my X800 phase change system. I'll try chasing after that elusive front page spot.

Was it retail or OEM?

I bought a retail one (skt 754) from newegg 2 weeks ago it was a C0 (AP suffex).
The only skt 754 3400 CGs I can find are DTRs.
Enjoy!

CG/C0 is the core revision. The goober who started labeling the D1/M0 as "steppings" is what screwed everyone up.

I thought the whole 3 lines were the stepping.

I thought the whole 3 lines were the stepping.
They are and 'CG' or 'C0' are not in the stepping.

Whitepapers tell you what's really going on, but check out the bottom of this link:

The DTR i just got last night is a CG, it's purring along fine @ 2650mhz on air, Alpha

I don't like DTRs because I'm like Hipro, I overtighen things. I cracked a Barton 3000+ when it was the highest end chip AMD had out, I cracked a R9800pro about a month after it was released. I'm trying to avoid IHS less things as much as possible.

I cracked a 1700+ once in one of my vapo's out of Probably 100 AMD chips i've tested. I also bought a 3400 Clawhammer @ the same time it's stable @ 2560mhz on air and it was $262.

I bought a Vapo LS today and the DTR is going in it. I upgraded my Vapo PE to the New clamshell, and it's idiot proof with the way it's on guide rails and clamping down on the chip, and just about impossible to chip the core now. The DTR with some volts is an easy 3+ ghz chips when i strap it in.

Thats the benefit of retail systems, I have a home made mounting kit that has no limits on the tension. (I acctually recently added rubber washers to it just for a little relief)
