I finally got around to running 3D Mark on my new system last night. Unfortunately, my OCZ DDR booster is out of calibration and I can't get to the mosfet to read vdimm, so I couldn't tell where my voltages were and just decided to run the RAM at stock timings (2.5-8-4-4). Also, I only have one 120mm fan cooling the heatercore, so voltage increase was limited as well. 250MHz fsb seemed like a good place to start :D

24655 - http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=8111419

Both tests were run under WinXP with DX 9.0b. I know I can get a little more out of her with a fresh OS install and some service tweaking, but wasn't sure how much of an increase some more MHz + better RAM timings would yield. 250 fsb was done at 1.6v, and temps with the single fan never go above 42c according to MBM. The RAM is OCZ PC-4400, so it still has quite a bit of room to play with. So if I got my cpu up to around 4GHz (267fsb) and tightened the RAM timings a bit more to say 2.5-7-3-3, how much do you fellas think I'll gain? Oh yeah, video card is an x800 Pro flashed to XT PE at 525/540 1.4v (no mods).

Edit: Forgot to mention - CPU is a 3.0c SL6WU and mobo is an Asus P4C800 w/vdroop mod and cooled mosfets. PSU is a Fortron 530W.

Sorry for being a total noob about asking the "how many points will I get" question. I've configured my new watercooling so that its kind of a pain in the arse to take the case apart, and I was going to wait until I saved up a few dollars for a PSU upgrade before I did any more serious benching. 18A on the 12v line for my x800 just isn't cutting it.

Just tell me your opinion, even if it entails the words ":smileysex off"

:eleph: - btw, that elephant dominates this forum

Did a little more tweaking/benching tonight. Disabled lots of windows services and increased the video card clocks to 534/555 (Previous run was @ 525/540). I also used clockgen to increase the FSB to 257MHz, and dropped RAM timings down to 2.5-7-4-4. However, my score only increased by about 200 points in 2k1, and now I've got some questions. I was expecting to at least reach 25k...

First of all, car low dropped by 25fps!?! I didn't see that coming. Everything else is within 2-3fps of my previous run, except for the nice 10fps gain in nature and a 25fps gain in drag low. I ran the tests in the default order, one at a time, giving my card a minute or so to cool down between tests. Can anybody fill me in as to why I saw such a big decrease in car low? I need the advise of those expert benchers among us. :D

Thanks :toast:

try CH DL LL DH LH N then CL a lot of times.... fps vary a ton run to run in car low.

Thanks for the input FDM. I'll give that order a try tomorrow...stupid english paper :D

I hear ya on that. Ever since school started back up I have barely touched the PC other than for web browsing and papers :D

Goodluck in cracking 25k

Hehe, thanks :)
If I really get desperate, I'll reinstall windows...but I think a little more minor tweaking will get me there.

Things will really start to fly when I get my booster back into calibration and a second fan on the heatercore. A Powerstream 520W should help the vid card OC too :D

Finally reached 25k. Had to run 5:4 at 2-6-3-3. I have yet to find the max this RAM can do at these timings, but if I go any further, I'll reach the cpu's limit. Hopefully I can get a little more out of it...26k would be sweet :D

Edit: It looks like I had another bad car low run...or maybe I just had a good car low run with the 24k score.

Getting closer to 26k :)

RAM now running at 2-5-3-3...disabled some more services too. I'm going to do another run at these settings to see if its holding anything back.

Edit: Beat the above score by less than 100 points. I'm afraid I'm starting to get addicted, and I haven't even benched 03 yet.

Edit dos: Do you guys think if I switched drivers I'd get a better score? I've been using the 4.9 cats.
