I wanted to buy an athlon64 3200+ clawhammer (cg), unfortunately, i cant find one :(

Then i guess i have to take a newcastle. But since most newcastles max out at about 2600mhz. is it still worth getting a 3200+ instead of a 3000+, it would save me 50€.

I have a gig of 3700EB, and i'm hoping that with the dfi it'll do 260mhz at least. And if it does, i wouldn't need the 11x multi.

Or is there another good reason why i would be beter of with a 3200+? Or are my expectations about the 3700EB to high?

The setup will be watercooled.

Please help me choose.

I prefer the 3200+ I think they still speed bin if so better silicon is more likely. If you have voltage available, and your goal is 260, I guess your chances are better with the 3000+ as I doubt you'll find a 3200+ to do 2860 on water.

Moving to amd/hardware.

actually, mu goal isnt really 260 on the ram. but 2600 or more on the CPU. but if a 3200+ will max out at 2600mhz, and IF i am able to do 260mhz on the the ram, then i'll probably lower the multi to to 10x. So then the performance would be the samen as a 3000+ (10*260) not?

But is the average oc with the newer 3000+ 'es about the same as the 3200+?

or do people like PULSAR just have really lucky CPU's?

I haven't been following the 3000+ much, You could probably look through THIS (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=20825) massive thread to get some idea on how well they are doing, but I would say you would have a better chance of 2.6+ on the 3200+. my last one does 2650 on boxed cooling. worth the cost difference, good question..

well its from that thread that i read that pulsar was hitting 2700mhz, and others 2600mhz so. maybe i should just spend the extra 50 to be sure of a decent oc. ah wel, its still a few weeks till the dfi is released here, so i guess i'll wait untill then to decide, and hope that in the mean while other people with 3000+'s post their results in the thread.

thanx for the help,
