View Full Version : 2.8c overclock

Picked up a new cpu at Fry's electronics last weekend to replace a craptacular 2.8c M0 that would not exceed 3.5 ghz and seemed to be unstable at any speed. I intended to get a SL6WK or WU 3.0 but unfortunately, they were sold out (retail and OEM). I ended up getting a SL6WT, Malay, 12 cap week 51 2.8c -- pack date 4/12/04. So far, it is overclocking better than I expected. Running it on an AI7 with bios 17. Superpi times are slow as mem timings are 3-4-4-8 @ 1:1 and I can't get this board to work at any gat settings other than all auto.
Questions for the P4 experts: Aren't the 30 cap cpus generally considered to be superior to the 12 cappers? Also, have any of you reached 4 gig on a 12 cap cpu with air or ambient temp. water?

Thanks,
Jay

Some screenshots. Zalman 7000a-cu air cooling at 3.8ghz / 1.6 Vcore.

Okay, for some reason my screenshots of superpi, cpu-z, voltage and temp readings aren't uploading. Its a bmp file and it seems to attach fine,......don't know why it's not working. The screenshot was kinda the meat and potatos of this thread.
I'll try again....

Max size for attachments are 200kb.
A .bmp will be larger than that. Try converting it to .jpg, should work then.

Thanks Jupiler. Let's see if this does it....

Very nice oc, specially on air with low voltage. Is it 100% stable?

I don't know if it's 100% stable. So far, I've only run several rounds of superpi and 3dmark01. I havn't seen any instability yet.:)

Here's a p4b doing 4ghz on 85f water.
I wouldn't pick up a 2.26 hoping for this overclock though.

30 cap 3.0c @ 4.0 on a small H2O system. Small trans cooler, Eheim 1046, Gemini cool spriral, GPU is in the loop as well.

Nice overclock FragMagnet!

Update: Managed to get this 2.8 up to 3.9 superpi stable with the same zalman air cooler and 1.675 volts (1.64-1.65 actual). Hopefully, it will go farther as it gets colder in the next couple months. :D
