righty got my prometeia / intel rig doing some folding and according to mbm my 12v rail is dropping between 10.7 and 10.9 whilst running units then whilst it is sending results it goes back to 11.8-11.9as cpu temp drops and head cools .I know that this is bad and it aint the question i wanna ask ..

Question is to other prometeia owners when your system is under heavy load at decent overclock what are your 12v rail results ..

and a question to the more technically minded im sure its the 2 12cm fans in the cooling unit that are the cause as they try to keep the cooling unit rad cool and wondered if it would hurt to connect them to an alternate psu to the one running the system when i want to overclock it to xtreme

cheers

My rig is folding now for the last 3 hours and the 12V readings are normal, no big drops.
PSU is a Channel Well 480W, system is Prommy cooled.

Well when ever you at 100% load everything that is useing 12 volt goes to max. For example the old Fop 38, when ever there was a load the fan would crank up to 7200 rpms, when at idle it would quite down and do like 5200 or somthing. Bottom line get a TTGI 520SS:D

Im getting one of these PSU next week in preparation for the Vapochill unit arriving in a few weeks.

In Australia here its sold at auspcmarket under the brand Atlas.

$198AUD (http://www.auspcmarket.com.au/show_product_info.php?code=CS-FP520)

Not bad considering I paid $155AUD for my Antec 430watt Trupower...:)

what is the difference between the $78 one and the $88 eps one?

I use a samcheer 470w psu and its superb from www.microdirect.co.uk the 420w model has pots but I have found I don't need them.

Heres my latest Hi-Lo log.... get 0.11v drop on the vcore under load but the 12v rail is pretty solid...

The 12v rail should only power the control unit in the base anyway (not sure if it does the 2 fans, but I would think so)

the power supply must power the 2 fans as theres a molex that comes up to connect to psu unless thats just to control there speed should have a new psu in place later today so hopefully problem will be solved

That's a 2.4B, which can run 3320 nicely at 1.75V and 3420 at 1.85V. But right now, running 3123 with memory at 231 Mhz.
The chip did a nice 3.1 ghz at 1.75V, watercooled.
I'll be getting a 2.8 next month, at least I hope so.:)

Hehe , yeah I know the prometeia system quite intimately... Having fried the first mobo I stuck in one :D

It was a tease, UK humour and all that...

And according to the DK patents office it isnt like a vapokill at all ;)

(more poor humour)

The molex that comes out of the base unit is the power for the control unit, but as that controls the fans as well, I would guess it also powers them too...

Havent had the side off fo a while so cant confirm the routing....

I use an enermax 550 watt in mine, and get very little voltage drop, as can be seen above (along with me temperautres) but due to crummy Epox 4g4a I do get a bit of voltage drop on the CPU line...

Anyway, hope your new psu sorts it...
