From a very reliable source, I have been notified that a 1/5 pci divisor exists and implemented on the AK35GTR. Personally, I have had problems running at 160ish FSB speeds. I have tried FSB speeds of 160 to 166 with the most relaxed memory timings and have booted into windows with no data or registry corruption which leads me to believe that a 1/5 pci divisor does exist. Another possibility that a 1/5 divisor exists is that when I select a FSB at 155 and above in bios, my video screen goes blank for a split second and that does not happen when i change from say 133 to 141. At 160ish FSB speeds my system becomes unstable after several minutes which leads me to conclude that user non-adjustable memory timings are too fast or the VIO is inadequate for FSB operations around 166 MHz. JAWS wanna give it a shot with a lower multiplier?

Very Interesting

This is what I have observed playing around with the fsb.

Anything above 150 and my monitor will go blank ( flash no video) for about 5 seconds before the initial boot up. Same as you.

Also 150+, XP will not shut the monitor down. (flash no video)

I've had 163, rock stable. I know I lowered the multiplier a couple notches, but I can't remember exactly what setting.

If there is a 1/5, at what setting does it start to kick in?

I will find out the exact FSB setting where the 1/5th PCI divider kicks in. I have found additional information which has been passed on for a possible revision of the bios. It may be the SDRAM Burst Length set to 8 by default and not being user definable as in the AK31S9E8 performance bios of the AK31V3.1 boards to say 4 is the cause. It seems that even on a MSI KT333 if SDRAM Burst Length of 8 is selected results in problems.

Asus A7N266-C coming soon as possible so that you will have company in these Forums. Need to find VCore modifications though. :D

what is the -c, -e, -n

my board has none of those extention and EVERY review was with the 1.0 version - I have the 1.02 version board that has the audio configuration - not the network one.

any word from XTW if they supply mods for this board?

A7N266-C is based on the new 415 chipset without the integrated graphics core.

A7N266-E is exactly the same as the A7N266 with integrated LAN and comes with the ACR sound card.
