I bought a refurb IT7 Max from newegg.com but I got a NIB IT7 Max :)
However, it's a blue box(heard red was better) and it's version 1.0

One thing I did notice as I took off NB hs and it had both thermal paste and a TIM. WTF is up with that. would be worse than one or other. So I cleaned off TIM and put on some silicon paste as I figured the NB wouldn't benefit from AS enough to warrant me searching my shop for it. I had the cheap stuff handy and I'm lazy :p
Anyway, the 2.4B and Corsair PC3500C2 and Alpha HSF should be here later this week.

I want 3.1-3.3 Ghz aircooled so I was hoping for a newegg.com C1 stepping but have heard since 2 peeps got C1's others have gotten BO cores so kinda nervous about what I get.

It's up and running with an older 1.6A at 2.56 or 16x160 with 3:4 ram. Running pretty good despite me. When installing the Alpha I didn't read instructions and bottomed out the fan screws through hsf and into board in 1 spot cutting into traces but thankfully not through them. Hella mem bandwidth. Was up to 165mhz fsb at 3:4 but my cpu is limiting me and with 1.7V max it won't run there long stressed. But at least board works

I don't know how I got box and all accesseries b/c every other refurb board I have got through newegg has been bare oem.

oh and I have 2 raid arrays on this board. Runing pretty sweet. Picked up 2 of the 30gb's maxtors ata133 7200rpm drives at OD for $33 after rebate. Plus I had two WD 30's 7200rpm ata100's lying around. So I took the hard way to 120gb of storage :p

yeah hopefully, i still don't know why I got mine.

Actually upon further exam I believe I got a full retail board that someone had returned but with everything intact. Didn't pay attention to this but the sticker that normally covers socket wasn't on and i found it on bottom of box today. Oh well I'm happy :)

The new IT7 i got from Newegg also had both the thermal paste and TIM. I guess it could have been a return, but it works fine.

Leave the mb screws loose until you install your video card (try to force it in). Maybe the case back panel can be pushed out slightly. I got my video card installed but it was very tight. I think the Max2's have the same problem. Unbelievable that Abit didn't catch this problem before production, and even more unbelievable that they apparently didn't fix it in the Max2. I hope the GB7-Ultra doesn't have this same problem when they release it.

Even tried that leaving only 1 screw in but no go its of by almost half a screw! also the funiny thing is that the box around the agp slot socket sims to be right on as you said its a problem from abit! does everibody have the same problem?

I just pretended it was a 16yr old virgin and slammed it in there :p. No but seriously, it fit after a bit of work and some force, now it will fit w/out problem after removing and reinstalling vid card.

no it's definately the IT7 but I hear it's not uncommon. Just kinda wedge it in there and it will fit. Do it now before your 15 days are up for RMA.
