Hi,
I used to have my own little logo and writing on my start button on sp1, i used resource hacker and a web page i found showing how to edit it.

now with service pack 2 i can edit it the same way but after a reboot its gone back to the old "start" txt and little flag grrrr.
ive checked to see if there are any more explorer.exe since sp2 install , and there are now 5 explorer.exe on my system,
1.c:\windows
2.c:\windows\system32\dllcache (which is the backup i normally delete)
3.c:\windows\$NtservicePackUninstall$
4.c:\windows\$NtUninstalKB820291$
5.c:\windows\ServicePackfiles\i386

so which one of thoose keeps reverting back to the old exe?
or how doi stop it ?

i just want my old start button back ggrrrrrrr

First Disabled Windows System File Protection Service. I forgot how to do this.
Once it's disabled, you can edit the explorer in the Windows Directory.

If you don't disable it, each time it restarts, the service will replace the one edited with the original one.

Isnt that to do with the DLLCACHE? (i already delete the explorer backup from there) id rather have the system file protection running, incase i screw summin up in the future.
just hoped there was a simple way around whatever has changed since sp2 was installed
