Perhaps many of you already knows it :(, so I hope this post won't be considered as spamming. I've made a guide on how to dissect, hack and do anything you like to award BIOS at : in my website (http://www.geocities.com/mamanzip/Articles/Award_Bios_RE/Award_Bios_RE_guide.html) . I hope it would be useful for someone who might need it :toast:

this doesnt look easy as modding a graka bios! you need to know programming but for ASCII you just need windoze calculator!

I don't mean to offend but this seems to be useless for ASUS or Gigabyte custom BIOS file format.

Very good and in depth work! Good to see that we have clever people on this forum. There was this awesome russian website, rom.by, it had a patch that would patch any old bios with like big hdd support and such, it's a shame it seems to be down...

It seems to be both of them are derivate of award BIOS. Indeed they are quite different. But, very probably still a variation of LZH compressed files. Even AMI uses this kind of compression. I ensure about that. If you're skillful enough, you can disassemble the bootblock for further info's.

Nice thread, wondering if I can hack in support for 65nm Brisbane cores to Award 3.11 BIOS for Asus A8M2N-LA board (Presario SR2039X - the kid's system ;-) ??

Well, I've been working on this thing for quite some time now. The fundamental knowledge is now published as book in Amazon and some other major book retailers. The book titled: BIOS Disassembly Ninjutsu Uncovered

This is the link in Amazon:

BIOS Disassembly Ninjutsu Uncovered (http://www.amazon.com/BIOS-Disassembly-Ninjutsu-Uncovered/dp/1931769605)

The book is quite complicated and requires knowledge in x86/PC assembly language. However, it should be easier to comprehend compared to my rough articles.

my updates and comments about the book contents is in the following link:

Was wondering if any of these old award bios modding guides still exist?

Thanks
