Ok got some OCZ 3700eb vs my GEIL ultra

The GEIL won't clock over 220 fsb mainly due to being at 2-2-2-5 timings.

The OCZ won't go over 250mhz even on its looser timings 3-2-3-8

problem is my OCZ is scoring slightly lower in 3Dmark01se -300 points.

mainly lobby is down on high and low scores and car low is up using the OCZ.

Aquamark scores CPU test is about the same between the two rams.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

That being said low timings sure does make up alot even with lower Clocks. Well IYO stick with the OCZ and up the FSB to 270 and boost voltage. OR sell the OCZ and get some good BH-5 ram and run it at HIGH voltage and try and get 250+ 1:1

IYO keep 3700eb or which BH-5 ram do you suggest to up my 3D scores and general gaming??

Try just a single stick of 3700eb and see how high that gets you. All you need is one stick for benching, but for gaming you need both.

you should try the 3700eb @ 3-2-2-x at the exact same settings (other than cas latency) as the BH-5, see if its something else thats causing the hit.

run the 1 stick, 512's really suck for oc'ing... except this aussie legend by the alias of eva2000, hes got insane fsb with 2x512.

I dropped to 3-3-2-7 and FSB went up to 254 but tried to do 3-2-2-7 and it crashed running PiFast.

I think to get it stable at 255+ at 3-2-2-7 the ram will need more voltage than 2.8v.

Am I assuming correctly??

still think I can get some BH-5 and couple that with 3.1 -3.3v should be able to pull 250+ at 2-2-2-5

OCZ still nice once got over 250 I was able to squeeze my 46.11 PiFast down to 45.66 but had to tweak and tweak and run 2703 vs 2686 on the CPU.

still for 300.00+ for ram I would have liked to see a big improvement vs my 16 month old GEIL.

if I get FSB to 270 and 1:1 at 3-2-2-7 on the OCZ I will be alot happier. looks like a OCZ booster is in order since the DFI board has been pushed back 6 weeks to end of sept. :(

if u did a vdimm mod, even just for say 3.1v, 2.5,3,2,7 might become available. if u love benching tho, get 1 256mb stick of bh-5... ovcourse keep ur 2x512 for gaming.

OCZ does well maybe sell the GEIL and get a couple sticks of BH5 and see how well this slow 3500+ can go :D

3.1v should get the 3700eb to 270+, just make sure you cool them really good!

baha my bad, im wrong, admit it :D had no idea that because it had dual channel capabilities it was actually a requirement.
