I was thinking of getting a ac unit at walmart and just putting it on lay-a-way so I could just pay a little at a time (married, and have kids : ) need to be good with my fun money )

Would this unit be a good choice for a chiller.

I want to stay around 100$ if not that one then maybe one of the others?

Thanks for the input

Gary makes very good chillers from AC units... the best i've seen, but mine was custom built for me by Chilly1 & is charged w/ R402a & was not made from a AC unit. i wanted something that could set under my computer like a promie.

I believe the ones Gary is using are 5200 or 6000 btu.

I made mine from a 5150 btu unit from sears. Works quite well - pulls 3 liter reservoir down to -30 in 20 - 30 mins.

Then that fedder one should do nicely for you.

The one I got from sears was harder to use because the capillary line and the suction line hooked to the evap at the bottom and middle instead of near the top. I read somewhere in this forum that the Fedder ones are easier to deal with.
