Smells fishy to me... you'd think ATI would put something on their site or release a statement before or at the same time as telling the retailers to do at least some damage control hm?

although not like i can find a 6800gt for sale anywhere. heh.

Remember that in the letter it says "x800xt pe". They may have discontinued the "platinum edition", but not the actual x800xt.

"This simply won't happen."

"The majority of ATI partners cannot get any of those cards since the yields are still not good and the quantities are small."

"The real quantities will come, believe or not, in September."

I would take a dump on ATI's doorstep if they did that.

their security would remove you from the premises, and you would most likely be banned from ATI's headquaters.

Probably not, I drive by there all the time, I rarely see any security guards walking around.

And ATi's website still shows the Platinum Edition.

you made my day :D hope u dont forget to bring TP with ya! anyway ati's yield of the x800xt is so low they may stop making those in favor for next gen r480 or r500 on .11u with much better yields so its good news anyway

I'd stick that in my sig but it'd get removed I think, LOL :D

the yields are low? that doesnt make absolutely NO sence at all...

the card is just clocked higher 20mhz, dont tell me its a porblem to clock x800 cards to 520mhz

If they are having problems, its heat related... but thats it.

Personally I think the GPU should be on the backside so it can have a larger cooler.

You notice that they've got the OLD Ati logo on the side of their building instead of the newer one? Weird stuff...

Ultra Extreme??? Oh... You meen the fake line of cards put out because Nvidia was afraid of losing face?? Hehe...

This is a bunch og BS from some Nvidia fanboys... Nothing more...

Sweden just got a bunch of X800XT's... Still waiting for them here in denmark...

This is just silly... To think that people in here would even believe that sort of BS...

"Yeah they'll probably just drop the million dollar project because thats the smartest thing to do..."

This has to be bs, I had a CDW preorder awhile ago before I cancelled it because I wanted the faster Doom 3 card, the price was really good, $450 or 460? Something like that... and with fedex overnight (morning) shipping it came out to around $490... I think CDW just got too many preorders, decided they weren't going to make a lot of money because the cards are hard to come by so more expensive and cancelled everyones order.

I wouldn't be surprised if X800XT-PEs show up on CDWs site again in a month or two...

I don't believe a word of it. Mainly because I got a text ad on that page for the X800XT PE.

they want to sell all their xts for the highest price possible...

ati has indeed say it will cancel the x800xt, BUT thats talking about pci express! and before any of you start getting upset, they wont make a x800xt pe pcie version because all x800xt pcie cards will have the same memory and the same clockspeeds as the x800xt pe on agp ;)

at least thats what i heard from several people saying ati said that on comdex(?) or was it computex?

khellandros66

Canceling the PCI-E cards is understandable there aren't too many people out there with it yet. IF they do cancel it, probably means they are gettin R480?? ready to go. IF so thats awesome.

"Update (2): From ATi "Hello Hilbert, - at the actual date, I cannot confirm that our Radeon X800 XT Platinum Edition will not be discontinued. "

even that ati rep isnt sure if x800xt will be made anymore, I think this speaks volumes. ah well we will have r480 soon anyway, forget r420
