This is more related to the AMD forum, but it has significant cause to be here.

I will be recieving a new Vapochill Premium in a few weeks time, and wanted to know if people would recommend i keep my current XP2000 (AGOIA, week 14, does 2004mhz @ 1.95v aircooled, or 1850 at default voltage), or sell it and go a slightly faster XP2100?

Im looking for a gain in clock speed, and dont really want to have to test my 2000 in the vapo (I feel i will :()

There would be no point upgrading to a 2100+ if you do want to upgrade get a 2400+ or something.

Tep going from a 2000 to a 2100 is pointless tbh. 2400's are meant to be better overclockers anyway. :)

Perhaps, but i have noted several people have obtained the highest palomino overclocks using the XP2100. I suppose the question would be rephrased, in the event of the XP2400 not being available in Australia (or not being available cheaply), would i gain any speed from going from this particular stepping XP2000 to a specific stepping XP2100?

well yes of course its going to be faster, if thew 2400 are to expensive for you then yes get 2100.

I doubt it. Chances are the stepping you would get on the 2100+ would be identical to this 2000+, as the 2000+ you have right now is one of the two latest Palomino steppings.

Breaking 2ghz on air is awesome. You've got a great overclocker there already. I would hang onto it.

Definately hold on to that CPU, its a winner.

However, be very very, véry careful not to kill it with that Vapochill... that Eveporator is a killer... and I can know, I killed my 2.1 GHz 2000+ AGOIA 0205 with it ;)

I agree with JCviggen,

I would start out with maybe one of those sweet 1600s that only cost $50 and OC like crazy and see what you can get. Later, when you feel confident that you can seat it without cracking the core, etc...risk a good chip if you want. I never cracked a core, but I did manage to kill 2 XP2200 CPUs with my old style Vapo. It sounds crazy, but after running the hell out of them for about 6 months, the evap seemed to eat away or dissolve the chip! I don't know if others have seen this or not?

You were lucky...I ate $400 and traded the vapo for a prom.

OUCH!! Sorry to hear about that.

Really though, Vapo's are very risky on AMD , but I thankfully have not chipped anything in 2 years. If you are really carefull the Vapo head can be mounted without incident....it's just VERY risky.
