After I got my FX-53 rig and up and running last night, I decided to get a few benches in and see what it would do stock. I'm quite impressed, and shocked at the same time.

*All of the tests were run with the FX-53 and X800XT at stock speeds.

It scores almost 28K stock in 3DMark2001, which isn't bad

In 3DMark03, I scored around 12860 (forgot to SS). I'll re-run it tonight and get some links up.

How does all of this look? Is it right on for my system? Could I possibly see 30+K in 01 and 14+K in 03?

I'm really impressed with the 01 score, as I thought it would only be in the 25K range.

I was hoping 03 would start in the 13K range, so 200 points off isn't bad.

I'll probaly start OC'ing the CPU a little tonight. The card does 595/600 no problem, so it's got plenty of headroom.

Cool...now add 400MHz on the CPU and a modest overclock on the XT and add around 6200 points to your 2k1 score!

nice score, even for the handicap of win xp. I think jason got 28.5k with a stock fx53 and stock x800xt but he was using win 2k and his nature was 260fps which yours should be too, make sure everything is set to quality.

Don't you mean performance?

I think he really mean't quality. Does a brainfart count as a typo? If that really was a typo that's amazing! What are the odds of someone mistaking the "q" for "p", the "u" for "e", the "a" for "r", the "l" for "f", etc... It's gotta be in the trillions to one at least!:D

I was wondering if nature got a weird boost from the quality settings. GF is probably one of the better tweakers out there, he would know.

where did you get that he's one of the better tweakers?

craig588

He works with a GF4. He needs to be able to tweak like crazy just to get by.

lol, he now has a 9800pro, incase you didnt know. he made a thread or five about it... but it hasnt made it to his sig yet.

so... since i have a 9100, does that make me a tweaking god? o.O

StormPC

No he doesn't. All he needs to do is be that last person to have one and he will have the highest score. Everybody else has erased their scores and put up new ones with new hardware. :ROTF:

doubtful that he'll get #1 in the ti series... he's what... 4k away? might be a bit hard without some better(then stock) cooling...

oh, why does he love the TI4200 so much then? I thought he was like the number 1 GF4Ti guy or something.

StormPC
08-05-2004, 06:34 PM
He's practically the ONLY GF4 guy!;)

no...

no idea why he likes the ti series so much. id say it was a mistake for him to name himself after his gfx card... maybe thats why he's stuck with it, caus its his name?

either way, he's upgraded to a 9800pro, so maybe he's opening his eyes? who knows...

yes, the ti series was a great card in its day, and it's still better then the lower FX cards... but its dead. its not enough anymore...

Why do the best threads always get sidetracked with Geforce4ti4200-bashing ? :p:

I think I can pull mid 19k with this ti4200 and my godly new 3200+ :D god 20k is getting quite irresistable but not gonna happen without either more ti4200 clocks or some ras-cas2 ram at like 255x10=2.55GHz on the a64. anyway yes my 9800 pro is faster but im gonna get a better card though, that 9800 pro is like 300 marks underperforming vs. others at same clocks. I look at my nature and its like 3fps low. I believe my vram's timimings must be too loose but im not gonna bother messing with bios timings for fear of frying that

Just flash to a different BIOS GeForce ? What ram chips does your 9800P have ?

And what is this 'godly' new 3200+ ? :p: I'm curious now...

samsung 2.8ns ram-------ocs real crappy too :( and has crappy relaxed latency timings :( id be at 23k on other 9800 pros at the same xt clocks as this one!

anyone think I can pull 3GHz? this could be 24k for me then :D

This thread has nothing to do with Ti4200s, or 9800 Pros.

It is about the FX-53 + X800XT combo. Please try to stay on topic...

Just did a fresh install of win2k with DirectX 8.1 and Cat 4.9 Beta

Stock cooled FX
Peltier cooled XT-PE

Just a few points short for the 2nd page of the ORB.....

BTW, i think ppl bashing Geforce need to see past the sometimes silly facade and see the person inside. He is one of the most devoted 3d-markers out there, he really tries with what he has.

g4's fine... and he knows what hes talking about. its just when he goes and makes prediction after prediction - which he hasnt been doing recently.

All of these FX53 / X800XT scores are very impressive, I hope the original thread starter can do a nice overclock and surprise himself with a 30k run ..good luck.

Yes, GF4 has cut out the predictions, sadly other people cannot seem to change themselves either and cut out the snipes ;)

Talking of older cards, my really really crap 5200U ( which makes the gf4 look like a 6800 Ultra ) has been at the top for over a year now, mainly due to the fact that most people did not buy one in the first place ..... :D

I am actually thinking of buying the 5500 now as this makes the 5200U look like the 6800U. Have you seen the scores on the ORB ? 13k for 5200U, 9.7K for 5500.

Anyone else fancy buying one and having a competition .. they must only be ablout $10 coz they must be made out of paper and cardboard ?

Regards

Andy

there actually more expensive than a 5200 here in aus... fx 5200's ~$110 ... 5500's ~$170
