I've heard some talk of the color of the box...blue vs red...assumed blue meant ECS...any1 confirm this?

I've read that too about the boxes several times...I'd like to see someone post also who knows if this is the definitive answer:)

Well my KD7 came in a Red box, it it exactlly the same as any other of my Abit AMD mobo boxes. the board on the other hand has to be ECS, it is just so cheap feeling, looking, the wieght, you name it everything about it says ECS.

Both of mine were red boxes, but the one I RMAed was heavy..paid dearly for shipping. I would like to know also.

my KD7 had a red box and was 4lbs but gave me some crappy ass rails (+12v at 11.5 stock) and anything over stock voltage would result either in a no POST or random reboots in windows

Christ! All I'm hearing are bad experiences!

Are these all early release boards?

Both of mine were 1.1 Aside from the 1st one dying...I am liking the replacement board. Did you flash to latest bios? Can all your other hardware take a high fsb? So far I have not passed my KX7, but am sure I will soon.:D

Thanks guys :)

My BD7-II came with blue box, is it an abit original or abit ecs ? Good mobo, can do DDR456 @ vddr 2.7v (2.65 real) only. The only problem is very high system temperature.

How about Abit ECS compared to Abit Original ? Is it too much diffrerent in overclocking/stability beetween them ?

My BD7-II came in a red box and it just sucks. Either its just a bad Abit one or just ECS standard :/. My IT7-MAX2 came in a blue box and cant seem to do more than 226 on the memory... its sad..
If Abit keeps this up Im gonna change mobo brand thats for sure.

edit: Got my IT7 past 226 now.. not sure what did it but it now works fine up and over 230 :).

AFAIK the box colour has nothing to do with it - they use red boxes for AMD motherboards and blue for Intel.

Henry if your BD7 didnt undervolts, it would be virtually the only one that didnt, and if its any consolation, my system temperature reads ridiculously high too - like 56C under load

Hognerts BD7-II is a Intel board and came in a red box. And JCViggens IT7's came in different coloured boxes if im not mistaken.

As far as I could find out from surfin about a bit... any NON-MAX mobo is now manufactured by ECS...

A few weeks ago, going to different Abit addresses (ie: abit.com.tw, abit.nl) brought up different sites... one completely MAX oriented, the other covering the entire product range.

They have changed it recently then, my mistake - in my shop (UK) ALL the AMD boxes have been red for as long as I can remember, and ALL the Intel ones blue.

Must be just one of those things.

IIRC, Abit BG7 came with red box.
My BD7-II undervolts too (both vcore and vddr) but at least it can do ddr 456 with 2.7v (2.65v real) only :)

Thanks Quad :)

I think this 1.8A hold me back, even at 1:1 i can't pass 171 fsb (need better cooling) or maybee my Kingston maxed out at ddr 456 @ 2.7v (2.65v real).
